The thermometer seems to do the job, that is in measuring our kids temperature. I only have 2 minor issues with it:1. The main button you press to measure the temperature is a bit flimsy/loose, but no big deal.2. There does not seem to be a way to turn off the beeping sound when it takes temperature. This becomes an issue if you're measuring a sleeping kids temperature and do not want to disturb/wake them.March 2014 Update, I got the latest version of their Thermometer and it does have a switch to turn off the beeping. Great customer service as well!

It looks similar to other products, but what sets this one apart is that it states to be FDA Compliant. However, when the product arrived no where on the box or in the documentation did it state that it was FDA Compliant. I contacted the seller and they stated to me that the product was indeed FDA Compliant. I was not satisfied with the sellers answer so I searched the FDA Medical Devices database and was pleasantly surprised to find it listed. (Regulation Number: 880.2910)As a home health nurse I needed a thermometer, and this one meets all my criteria: must be non-contact to avoid contamination between clients, must be readable in the dark, must take readings quickly. This definitely found a place in my bag and will make my job a bit easier and quicker.This product arrived a day early.

I love how fast and accurate this thermometer is. As a nurse, it's very frustrating when I need to take a temp right away but the vital sign machine we have is too slow and inaccurate. I carry this in my pocket at all times. Wish there was an off button because the button gets easily pressed when something leans against my pocket and it keeps beeping because the temperature is low. Overall, it is GREAT!

This thing does not work at all. You could point it at the same place three times in a row and receive three wildly different readings. Slight movements of a few millimeters will yield swings of 5-10 degrees. Utterly useless when you cannot tell if your child has a fever of 104, or if they're hypothermic at 90 degrees.

Not a lot to say about an item that works perfectly. You can use it to get surface temps on an inanimate object, the room temperature or a human. When used properly it gives an accurate reading and is repeatable so what more could I say? I have had mine for over 2 years and own another much more expensive  Withings Thermo - Smart Thermometer  which has not shown itself to be as accurate as the TempIR so all I can say is that for me this has been an excellent purchase.

I'm a home health nurse and use this product every day at work. I especially like that you can measure the room temperature, as it helps when educating clients on the effects of extreme temperatures on health. I get accurate readings each time, doesn't seem to go through batteries too quickly, and it reads very quickly.

I would give this thermometer 4.75 stars, the only thing that is keeping me from 5 stars is for 2 reasons.....1. If your forehead is moist you won't get an accurate reading and... 2. This thermometer for me routinely reads approximately 1 degree less than a normal oral digital thermometer.Besides that it's the best purchase I've made in a long time. I'm a nurse and use it at work on all my patients. It saves me so much time. Where I work they keep a oral digital thermometer in each patients room. I spend so much time looking for that thermometer and then once I find it, the battery is dead or it takes a minute or two to beep its complete. With this forehead thermometer it takes only a few seconds for the reading and since I don't touch the patient I don't have to worry about cleaning it between patient rooms. I love it!!!

DO NOT BUY!!! THIS ITEM DESERVES Z E R O STARS. I have owned it for sometime. I have never been able to get it to work reliably. It has all kinds of finicky problems, including advising low voltage on BRAND NEW BATTERIES. In the time of the 'rona, we need products that can be relied upon for accuracy and reliability. SWITCH TO ORAL...

Having seen similar items being used in Hospital recently and how easy ,accurate the are it was an upgrade worth doing. My wife and I have both been sporting temperatures over Christmas and this was a great aid. Big kids and little kids will find this fun to use. It will also measure surface and room temperature in both Centigrade and Fahrenheit.

I am very impressed with the tempiR thermometer, my daughter works in a hospital, she said we don't use them as good as the one I purchasedBut also said what do I want it for, I told her it will be handy to have in the house, and I have used it quiet a lot , also with grandchildren when they have not been well.I had read the reports on the tempIR and it came out the best to me from reports on other ones I had read . I did not rush in to buying one, looked at other cheaper ones , but I kept coming back to this model ,so I purchased one, no skin contact need , also has other features I believe it's the best there is .

The TempIR thermometer is easy to use and, importantly, is accurate.I spent quite a bit of time looking at the various thermometers before deciding on this one. I decided against the old fashioned "under the armpit" ones because you have to get the child to "play along" and if you haven't warmed it they get a bit of a cold shock. Cue crying baby! I also steered away from the in ear ones, even though they are very accurate, purely because most come with disposable plastic covers. This is just another fiddly thing I didn't need, nor want to deal with when I have run out of sleeves.So, infrared non-touch it was going to be. There are quite a few on the market now so I had to whittle them down a bit. I avoided those with bad reviews (not just on Amazon) and then gave myself a price cap. That left me with only a few thermometers chose from as a lot of the "branded" ones come with a pretty steep price tag.Is the TempIR any good? Yes it is. It is made of plastic but feels quite solid and I am sure it will last, unless you give it to a toddler to play with! Nothing is toddler proof! The unit is very easy to use. It has an on/off button on the side and you can cycle through the different modes with one button on the front left. You have room, surface and body temp modes to choose from (just make sure you are on the right one).I compared it with an good old fashioned thermometer and the readings were spot on, although I still want to compare it with another digital IR Thermometer to see if there is a difference.Overall, I rate this as an excellent product which is also great value for money.

This thermometer is wildly inaccurate, even when held at the recommended distance. When taking 2 readings from exactly the same spot, they’re very different from one another. I was going to return it only to discover that they don’t offer refunds on this NON CONTACT thermometer! I’m so annoyed. This seems a very unfair policy. Update: After I wrote this review the company promptly got in touch suggesting ways of making the thermometer more accurate (ie calibrating it) and also issued me a refund. I haven’t tried their suggestions for improving the accuracy yet but am very impressed with their customer care.

Easy to use. I haven't had it long so can't comment on it's accuracy or durability. The measurements I have taken seemed ok, you do have to try and calculate the same distance you measure from. It you try from a particularly short or long distance the measurement varies, however the instructions state this, and tell you how to measure correctly.I think this product will be especially helpful when trying to take the temperature of a sick child as it's so quick to take a reading. With my previous thermometer you had to hold it under the arm for nearly 3 minutes which, with a child was a challenge. So to get a quick reading it's definitely worth getting. If I was really concerned about a reading I would check with another thermometer and get a second opinion at the doctors.The thermometer takes internal body readings, external body/surface readings and room temperature readings which is also helpful. There is a rather annoying beep but it didn't happen every time I took a reading so I think there may be a way of turning it off although it is not obvious and the instructions don't mention it. Before buying I read many reviews that said this feature was irritating and I would agree the thermometer would be better without it.
