Q: How does it hold up against multiple washes?

Yes! My answer is INVEST ON IT. I know that there are cheaper brands on Amazon, but I've tried about 6 of them. They don't work after multiple washes, including SafeRest, PlushDeluxe, Lucid and LinenSpa. I had this cover for over 5 years without any water leaking through. The only time it leaked was when I accidentally tore through the material while cutting something. I washed it at least twice a month. And in about 3 months in a row, I washed it about 4-5 times a week. All the other brands I tried leaked after 1-2 washes. Just make sure you follow the instructions and don't dry the cover on high heat. I used to either hang it, tumble dry super low or tumble dry air.

Q: is this cover recommended for Latex Mattress? We are also in a high humidity location.

The cover is made of cotton and is "breathable" so it should be find for latex in an area of high humidity. The use of bleach apparently inactivates whatever they put on the cover that makes it waterproof, so that warning is repeated a couple of times. We bought it for an elderly relative and I do not know how well it really works, as she has never wet the bed as far as we know. It was required of the assisted living facility where she lives.

Q: What are the sides made of? Our current mattress protector has sides made of something so delicate that it got all ripped up.

The sides of the mattress pad are a soft cotton material. It is sturdy, and does not rip like some I've had in the past. My previous mattress pad, which is identical to this new one, is seven years old, and it is totally in tact. It has been washed over and over again, and is good as new.
