Product is Fragile--But works good for short fine haired pets
When i first got this comb it worked great , zapped the fleas you could see the sparks , the first time i had to remove the plastic cover to clean the comb i had issues with it. It would not sound off when fully extended , i had to play with it by moving the slider back and forth to keep the connection. It zapped for a while like that then it just stopped zapping the sound still goes off now with the comb fully extended but its not zapping any more. The comb is perfect for soft-fine haired pets but the comb teeth will bend easy. Once you bend the teeth on the comb it stops working. I tried to get in contact with EpiLady support the manual said if these types of problems happen replace the comb but i still have not heard back from EpiLady as of yet. I think the product is perfect for my pet , I ordered another but this time i will treat it fragile and hope it lasts longer than the last one. Also if i get word on replacement combs i will post it. I have purchased all of the top flea zappers on the market right now and this one works the best.

Sometimes zaps your cat along with the fleas
These are very good at zapping fleas on cats, but my cats hate it. I think sometimes it zaps my cat along with the fleas. I now use it on my cat to comb him without the zapper engaged because he hated it so much. It is still effective at getting fleas off him, but I have to admit that it is more effective at killing fleas when it is turned on.

I didn't like it. I prefer the flea comb, it takes out more fleas. and even ticks from my pets
We have a flea and ticks plague in our area, so I use to brush and comb my cats every day, to take out those dangerous insects from them. I have used a comb for a few years to catch the insects. That comb is very good, and I am able to find and catch many fleas and even ticks from my cats, but sometimes, when I am throwing the fleas and ticks in the alcohol,to kill them, they jump away. I thought the Epilady Zapper would be a good tool, because it kills the fleas and ticks immediately, but not. It catched only a few fleas, and when I combed them with the cheap comb I use, I found still many insects. After 15 minutes using the Epilady, it stopped working. I changed the batteries but nothing, it came defective, so I returned it. I wasn't impressed, anyways.

AMAZING!
IT WORKS! And I am amazed and surprised. Even though Epilady is a well-known brand name, I expected this item to be a bust. Why? Because we have four cats, all with different personalities, but with some traits in common; they don't like high-pitch sounds and electronic sparking noises- and here I am buying something that emits a high pitch whine and electronically 'zaps' fleas. Well, it arrived. I read the directions and powered it up. As suggested in the directions, with it "on" I set it in an accessible area for all the cats. Once I heard the thing I was wondering if my wife and I would be able to tolerate the high-pitch whine, much less the cats. Man, this thing is annoying and the cats ran from it. I just left it on and when the batteries ran down I put in fresh batteries and let it run. After about a week, I turned it off, put in fresh batteries and set it beside my recliner. One by one, as each cat would come by for a treat or to sit for a while, I would turn on the Epilady and hold it for each cat to "sniff". To my absolute amazement, every cat let me groom it with the Epilady! I am careful not to press to hard because the teeth and plastic tines are a bit "pointy". This Epilady Electronic Comb is anything but a bust. IT'S FANTASTIC. Our cats love it. It removes loose undercoat and with the retractable blades when the teeth fill with hair I just retract the teeth and the hair is in my hand. Great feature. The zapping sound when the teeth hit a flea is very minor and I see a blue spark upon contact. As far as durability is concerned, I don't know. Haven't had it long enough. Battery life is very good. It's ergonomically easy to use, performs all functions excellently and is absolutely, without a doubt, the best grooming comb we have ever owned or used and the added benefit of killing fleas is a real bonus. Hey! Cats get fleas (even with the monthly treatment they each get) especially ours, since they have their own "cat door" and spend all day and night going in and out. This comb is the best hand tool we have found to help us defeat the fleas.

Not working
It worked really well for several days. I changed the batteries then it stopped working. I am going to get new batteries and try again. I hope it’s just that the battling have are old. I am using it to zap flea.

I watched in maniacal glee as the fleas actually lit up and were burned to a crisp!
Wow! My friend recommended this to me from the Sharper Image website. Of course, not only being a Prime member, but also a fan, I checked on Amazon first, and lo and behold, there it was, 15 dollars less expensive. I bought it. I just got it and gave the dogs their first comb-through. I put the batteries in, grabbed one dog, and ran it through her fur. I heard the buzzing, and I did indeed hear some zapping. I only got one flea off of her and it was dead. I grabbed the other dog. His fur is much thicker and with the first comb-through, I watched in maniacal glee as the fleas actually lit up and were burned to a crisp! I'm sorry for their little flea families, but you cannot harm my pets, drink their blood, and expect to live. This thing is fun, works perfectly, and is super easy to clean, because it has a retractable comb. If you're anal, as I am, take a soft toothbrush to it after you retract it and pull the hair off. Little warning: I put it against my skin, and I indeed got a little shock, but if you try different angles, some don't hurt your pet at all - experiment and see which angles keep the electricity from your fur baby. Helpful hint: Not all of the fleas will be dead. As a matter of fact one jumped away before I could slay it. I imagine he is warning the colony now to pack up their little circuses and move. Fine by me. To prevent this from happening, tap the comb on a folded piece of paper. The comb has a flat side near the head (where it says "Flea Zapper"). Tap the fleas onto the piece of paper. If one is moving, finish it off by folding the paper and rolling the flat side of it. BOOM! SQUISH! Goodbye evil flea. Let one go to warn the rest of the circus to pack up and MOVE! Inform him that he's lucky. (Or ... don't ...)

Finally!
We live in Texas where all manner of pests seem to thrive and we have spent a small fortune on flea treatment for our three cats. Natural products for the yard, household, and cats. No help. Natural flea collars. No help. Enough diatomaceous earth to render our yard the only snowscape on the block and enough to give the indoor furniture that glint of new fallen snow. Very helpful but a nightmare to vacuum up and should be repeated for best results. Also applied DE to cats. Washed all of the bedding. Still had fleas, just fewer. By this time one of our cats was severly anemic due to the fleas. Bathed each cat. That was a special day for all the mammals in the house. Applied topical drops from the vet to each cat. Still had fleas. Humans have bites from feet to knees. Paid to have nematodes applied to yard. (Microscopic creatures that eat fleas.) Supposedly lasts up to a year. Not cheap but we were becoming desperate. Seems to work but too early to tell how well. Finally found this flea zapper. Eureka! It actually works. Just as stated. My most fearful, originally feral, cat was not at all bothered by the sound. It is quite faint. Initially I combed each cat using no sound. I’m not even sure that was necessary. Even though the comb is tightly spaced, it glides through on even long haired breeds. After months of battling the fleas and months of misery for the cats, we think we are seeing the end of the flea lined tunnel and I hope the delight I feel with each dead flea is forgiveable. Only the flea is shocked, not your pet. The sound stops to alert you to remove the flea and returns as soon as that is completed. I just pull the flea off but a small brush is also provided. If you notice your animal chewing at a flea you can quickly comb that spot and catch the culprit. I have never had a live flea in the comb as others have stated. For a mild case of fleas this should do the trick. For an infestation like ours you will probably need multiple approaches. Unless your fleas are building condos like we suspected ours might be, diatomaceous earth is a great product and sold inexpensively by Amazon. ***The first zapper I ordered did not work.*** Amazon sent me another the next day and it works wonderfully. Keep trying. I noticed that the manufacturer gives a one year warrantee. Though constructed like a cheaper flashlight, the warrantee makes me feel safe if issues arise later. Here’s hoping you find success as well.

Fonctionne!!!

Save your money
Whisper quiet it is not. It has an ear piercing ringing noise that my cats are scared of. The battery cover also keeps coming off because the button to remove it is on the handle & the handle is obviously where your hand goes… poor design.. Advance flea control is a much more effective product & cheaper.. Although the Epilady zapper is almost half the price here on Amazon compared to stores/shops. Thankfully I didn’t waste as much money as I could have…

So worth it
My little fuzzball of a cat has had fleas for going on 3 months. I had tried everything including the normal treatment and my previous electric flea comb. The trouble with that one was that there was about a centimetre gap between the plastic teeth and the metal conductor prongs. This meant that you would often miss small fleas and it would only really get them if you brushed at a certain angle. In desperation, I decided to give this comb a go. Yes, it's expensive but honestly its worth the price. It's well made and as it doesn't have the flaw my other comb did. This one not only zaps the fleas it also combs out flea dirt from you fuzzy companions coat. It features retractable teeth to help you clean out any flea dirt or fleas that you may find (it also comes with a handy little brush to help as well). The teeth also have caps on the tops so you won't scratch your pet's skin. This comb does make a high pitched screeching, buzz noise when in use (it's difficult to describe). This is something I was almost certain would scare my cat, but oddly enough she is fine with it. In fact, she loves the comb which is surprising as she hates all brushes or combs. This comb is very safe, you can touch the teeth even when it's on without worry as touching it breaks the connection and the buzzing noise stops. This is a fantastic feature because it means you won't end up accidentally shocking yourself or kitty. Honestly, it's the best flea comb I have ever found and I will continue to brush my cat with it till all the fleas are gone (so far there are a few stragglers left). When used along flea medicine I am almost certain that it will rid her of her fleas.

Funktioniert
Funktioniert einwandfrei! Klappt hervorragend!

Didn’t suit me needs
My cats come home with many fleas so when the machine catches one flea, it stops working. It takes a long time to comb my cats and they eventually get bored and walk away. One of them is terrified of the high pitched noise it makes all the time. If you have the odd flea and a cat that is happy to lie around waiting then it’ll work for you!
