A quality case and a perfect fit. Love the tweed look

great case
even though it is not real tweed, it is a well made case. holds the guitar tightly in the case preventing sliding with a firm hold. clasps are heavy duty and there are four rather than three. feel confident that the guitar will not get damaged during transportation.

Tweed...sort of...
Case is nice. Would be nicer if it was a real tweed type fabric. Actually is more of a tweet look. But I still prefer it over the standard earlier black case. The black actually seems sturdier. But this case is very, very snug, which helps because it has a tendency to tip over sideways due to the rounded shape. So be sure to shut it carefully! Also, there's not a lot of room for storage in there. For strings, humidifiers etc.But...whenever I open the case up and show the Hofner bass to people, I get oooohs and ahhhhs. Everyone recognizes the McCartney bass immediately. I felt the bass deserved a more visually appealing case. So the tweed case is classier but you are gonna pay a bit for that.

Shoddy build quality
I bought the case thinking it was genuine Hofner and made in Germany. It's actually made in China, which is surprising considering the price point of $250 USD. The case "looks" great and the interior is well padded to protect the instrument. However, the pin holding the handle to the case failed the first time I used the handle to pick up the empty case (see photo). It will be a hassle returning the case as I've already recycled the packing material, so I will go to the local hardware store to find a nut and bolt to serve as a suitable replacement pin.

this is a great case as far as protection goes
First of all, this is a great case as far as protection goes....nice, snug fit for my 5000/1 deluxe. The lining is super plush, much nicer than the stock black case that it came with. However, unlike the original tweed cases from the '60's, the outer covering isn't real tweed cloth glued to the wood, but rather "tweed-colored vinyl". It looks nice, but on the hinge side of mine it is ver poorly applied and lifting off in several spots. I tried burnishing it to get the adhesive to stick to the wood better, but it's stretched too tight in these areas and keeps lifting off . This does not affect the protective ability of the case, but it is an annoying esthetic flaw which one would not expect of a $180 case. The rest of the case does not have this issue and actually looks very nice. I just think the manufacturer needs to up their game in the QC department.
