My Second Bible
Next to the Word of God, there will not be a more frequently read book in my house. In her positive, non-judgmental way, the author challenges her readers to be the healthiest versions of themselves. Most people are unwilling to admit that their current illnesses could be a direct result of poor choices of the past.As with all of Laura Harris Smith’s books, Get Well Soon is written and organized in an easy-to-understand style. Whatever your symptom, syndrome or sickness, there are prayers, blessings, essential oils, and meal plans that will definitely help you. I can testify to a miracle cure from this book for a condition that I suffered briefly several months ago.If you buy only one book this year (you don't want to borrow it because you will be referring to it often) it would be wise to make it this one.

Bible based advice for coming back into health after illness...great insight!
Great book to cover your illness in prayer...and being specific! Wonderful, thoughtful advice for healing and reminding us to turn to Jesus, our Great Physician and Healer. Thank you for a great reference to keep on my bedside table for any illness that comes up. Love this book! I wish I had learned this information and developed my prayer life for healing when my children were small and growing...young mother's need to heed this advice before turning to over the counter remedies or prescription drugs.

Holistic healing from a Christian perspective
Many times when we are young, we feel invincible. Then as we grow older, we start to feel some health issues beginning. Laura Harris Smith shares her remedies and spiritual prayers for healing whatever may ail you in Get Well Soon.Get Well Soon is divided in to three parts: Part One: Employing Your Spirit and Mind for Bodily Healings. In this section, Smith goes in to great detail to merge the body, mind and spirit for healing. She breaks down verses in the Bible from the original Greek and she shares experiences from her own healing. She also shares her history and what her degree means. Part Two: Blessing and Healing Prayers for Your Whole Body. In this section, Smith gives prayers to pray over every system in the body and prayers for specific issues in the body. Part Three: Get Well, Stay Well. In this smaller, final section of the book, Smith offers advice for how to handle stubborn illnesses that are difficult to treat. She also leaves a benediction at the end of the book that is a positive reading to end on.I enjoyed reading Get Well Soon. I liked how the author offered checklists for the reader to see how and when they got sick. I liked how she offers advice holistically--to help the mind, body and spirit work together for healing. Most of all, I liked the prayers that she has for many specific conditions and for certain areas of blessing in the body. I also liked that she shares how she is utilizing the practices that she encourages others to use. She doesn't seem to be above other people. She does write Get Well Soon from a Christian perspective so a belief in God and faith in His healing possibilities is a necessary basis for the book. My one complaint is that at times she references her other books and things she sells on her website. They aren't necessary to make good use of the book, but they do indicate that she is selling something more than the book. It didn't really bother me, but I think it does turn some people off. Otherwise, I think Get Well Soon is a great book, especially for looking at health from a spiritual perspective but it does emphasize holistic health. I also think for those people especially interested in essential oils that they will appreciate her referencing how to use them in Get Well Soon, along with other remedies.I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review.

The book you need for lasting wellness!
Laura Harris Smith is an author who has divine insights into the body, mind, and spirit connection. In a culture that is intent on fracturing these aspects of a human being, often forgetting the spirit altogether, Smith is doing the critically important work of re-constituting humanity, one reader at a time. Most medical doctors just treat the body. Most mental health professionals just treat the mind. And then you have pastors to treat the spirit. Who is treating the whole patient?Smith is."Get Well Soon" provides a hopeful message with a challenge. Smith doesn’t mince words. She starts by asking the most important question of all when it comes to wellness: that is, “How badly do you want to be well?” Like a loving parent, Smith places part of the responsibility back where it belongs—on our shoulders. We play a part in procuring and maintaining our wellness. That realization is medicine itself. In a culture addicted to quick cures, Smith will not prescribe an easy pill. Instead she partners with the reader to find a remedy that will last. That kind of remedy can only come from the Great Physician. Smith consistently points the reader back to our Creator. Unfortunately, not many people in the church are talking about our responsibility to walk in health, to treat our bodies as a temple so we can fulfill our mission here on earth. Smith does not shy away from this necessary task.On a personal note, I have an incredible appetite for this wholistic approach to health. As someone who has had more than one doctor insist on prescribing pills to help my mind or my body, ignoring my soul altogether, Smith’s book is a God-send. Literally. One doctor washed her hands of me when I didn’t want to endure the side effects of the anti-depressants she prescribed. In the end, a spiritual healing cured my need for that medicine, but my M.D. was unqualified to guide me to that remedy. Smith can, and she does. She focusses on that critical connection between the spirit, mind, and body. She treats the WHOLE patient to bring lasting health.
