AMAZING LITTLE UNIT !
I originaly purchased this to replace a old Sony EQ that I use between my lap top and the 1000 watt power amp in my shop. the features I based my "original" choice on were, the -7- band EQ, the fact it had rotary potentiometers "not sliders" . Also the EQ reaches down to 50Hz. The Sony still worked, but the sliders were tricky to move. So the Clarion sat in the office in it's package for a few weeks untill I recieved my latest toy, A Dayton Audio DTA-100a Tripath Class-T Digital Amplifier. I disconnected the lap top from the 1000 watt poweramp and decided to run my lap top direct into the Dayton to evaluate the "flat" tone of the tiny little amplifier. I connected the dual bannana plugs from the Dayton into -2- speaker cabs I use when I play bass, the speakers are both identical, SUNN 410H . Basically each has 4 TEN inch drivers with a centered tweeter that has a L-pad adjustment. WOW!~ holy cow ! ! ! Without any EQ the sound quality was AMAZING. I keep turning it up, and it keeps amazing me. With my laptop at full volume, and the tiny amp wide open, the sound was un real. It was so amazingly loud and yet clear at can be. I could actualy put this amp in my back pocket, and the sound was pounding like a nightclub. Now I decide , this is a good place to use that new Clarion EQ. I'm so very glad I waited to use it for this project. First I ran the lap top into the EQ direct (not AUX) and noticed the siginal was a little to hot for the tiny Dayton amp. Well then, I thought, I guess I'll try the "adjustable AUX input". BINGO!!! This EQ / Pre Amp is a match made in heaven with the Dayton Class-T Digital Amplifier . The amp is audiophile quality and this Clarion EQ happened to have the same basic signal-to-noise ratio. (DAYTON DTA-100 s/n is 103 dB (CLARION EQS746 s/n is 105 dB I don't think I could have found a better unit for this aplication at ANY price. I decided to put the two units into a small contained "rack". Being a custom Bass and Guitar builder I had pleanty of nice wood to choose from , and all the tools to build the litle box for these two. In the pics (of the un-finished unit), you can see it's Birdseye Maple with a custom burst lacquer finish. Under the amp is a space that holds the 12volt and the 24volt power supply. They both plug into a 120v power strip so only a single line is run out to power the unit. This little system NEVER even gets warm after being of for days at a time. I now have it in my bedroom (with smallers -JBL_speakers) connected to my main computer as the main sound system. It's not "surround" but you dont think about that when it sounds as good as it does. With a quick twist of a knob or two, I can EQ for a movie, music, or boost some mids to hear the TV late at night with the volume low. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention how PERFECT the Clarions' Sub out worked with the 10" JBL powered sub woofer. With the adjustable AUX input, the adjustable sub level and the adjustable main output level (main volume), this EQ is about as versitile as anyone could ask for. I already know I'm going to purchase a few more to have them around when I need them. It's funny , but the car is the last place I would think to use this amazing EQ. I like it in my room where I can lay back, close my eyes & enjoy the true crystal clear tone. The only things that don't get -5- stars are the smooth knobs. There soo smooth , and my finger tips tend to slide as I think I'm turning. And the nice blue LED lighting is a light to shine in your eyes. It keeps you from being able to see what knob is for what. Much like the Daytons LED. That little blue light is for a airport runway. I put tape over it so I didn't burn my cornias out.... ALL IN ALL, THIS EQ IS MARE THAN I COULD HAVE ASKED FOR..................

Quality Equalizer For Less
This Equalizer has impressive quality! With 105db signal clarity it will definitely produce high quality equialization. I used it to balance out my tweeters and door speakers, because I found my car would sound decent but need more mid and vocals while travelling down the road. I am using an amplifier and infinity Kappa 6.5 coaxials, and this really allowed me to get that "wow factor" back, instead of just loud, I can now get a more full sound out of my door speakers, and with the EQ only filtering for the door speakers, I was able to dial in the perfect amount of bass to them, while trimming the highs to a comfortable level. This is a really high quality EQ, for less than 60 bucks? 7 volt output at 105db will deliver a clean signal to any amp. I was a little let down by the subwoofer channel, as I want to filter my sub to about 125hz and this EQ has a switch for 60 or 90 hz. That would work for many, but I like to hear 85 - 125 hz bass tones so I keep my sub amp hooked to the head unit. As long as you know what you are getting, this is undeniably the best EQ you can get for less than $75, period. Update: I ended up getting a new head unit, and I still used this eq because it boosted the signal from 4v to 7v, and I used the sub output of the eq because of the higher signal strength. The filter may be limited to 60 or 90hz on the sub output, but I found that the rolloff is a slope and I could still get decent output of 90hz to 120hz from my subwoofer.

Awesome Product for Bluetooth Units and Boosting Line Power to Amps
I have a stand alone Bluetooth unit in my classic car that connects to my amplifier but could not get enough volume or power to the amp. I purchased different Line Boosters that did not really work or had poor sound quality as well as a loud "pop" each time I turned on my Bluetooth unit. I removed the line booster then I purchased this Clarion Equalizer... and WOW, what a difference! Putting this equalizer in between my Bluetooth module and my amp made a HUGE difference. I could fade my speakers front to back, I have a separate control for my subwoofer and all the different frequency adjustments. My car now has a killer stereo system that rivals very expensive stereos. I do have quality speakers, amp and subwoofer, however just a Bluetooth module as a hidden head unit. The sound is day and night from when I removed the line booster and installed this equalizer instead. This unit is a game changer for anyone with just a Bluetooth module to an amp. To Sum it up: - Super clean sound - Separate volume control and subwoofer control - Several frequency controls - Bright blue LED lighting (my unit in the glove box - so these may be too bright at night) - Easy install for Bluetooth modules with RCA connections - Awesome Line Power booster (About $50 more than junk ones) - Highly recommended - Classic car people love this option for hide away units

Good Addition to Stereo System
Clarion brings a low cost, quite functional 7-Band Equalizer Pre Amp with Sub Level Output and an Auxiliary channel. PROS: Small size allows for easy custom in-dask installation with a Single DIN head unit. Very easy to hook up using RCA Cables. Clean Signal gives beautiful audio. Good Frequency Points for the EQ bands. Solid Feel to the Rotary Knobs. Sub Level, Volume and Fader for tuning. Line Level Adjusters for Auxiliary In/Out. CONS: No Line Lever Adjusters, except for the Auxiliary. Front/Rear/Sub has none, other than the rotary knobs on the front. No Dimmer for the Lights. No Speaker Level Input (for those without RCA output on their radio). Only two Low-Pass Crossover Points (60Hz or 90Hz) for the Sub Out. Only has Two Channel Input (not including the Aux input). CONCLUSION: A fine addition to an OEM or other lower-end systems. Lacks some features high-end users may desire, but could be used all the same. If you do not have RCA outputs on your head unit, you will need a Speaker Level to Line Level converter in order to hook this pre-amp up. Not a problem for most users, but I wanted to point this out, just in case. With the front mounted rotary knobs for Sub/Volume/Fader, you can get a pretty nice balance between your various speakers. Line level tuners would be nice, but the rotary knobs will do. With only 2 channel input, your fader on your head unit will no longer function. This could have been left off EQ, but some may find it useful. Sound quality is great with no added noise. Crossover for the Sub would be nice if it was fully adjustable from say 50-120Hz or thereabouts. You are quite limited with only the 60 or 90Hz switch. Overall, it is a great deal for the money. Looks great, but lights are a bit too bright for my taste. Performs beautifully and the few missing features are easy to ignore. Great addition for those wanting more flexibility and tunability to their systems. I'm very pleased with mine.

Excellent Product
I bought this about a year ago and wasn't expecting much from it at only $50. First off, I am a moderate audiophile. My music has to sound just right and 100% distortion free though I don't go to the extent of things like loss less codecs and digital sound processors. This thing exceeded my expectations by 110% With every knob cranked to its max it is distortion free. Can't get much better than that for $50. It does put out its rated 7 volts wich allows me to turn the gains on my amps all the way down to 6 volts as they don't get lower. The lights are nice and bright and have are a vivid blue. Some complaints I might have is the paint for the lettering above the knobs have rubbed off after about 4 months and it wasn't really built for extreme heat climates. My car has a temp gauge on the dash that goes to 180 F. I live in southern Arizona and by 9:00 AM when I leave for work the gauge would already be pegged during the summer. Due to the extreme heat the the top plastic color has warped a bit and the color of the front has turned to kind of a dirty brass look though I kind of like it. I'm not going to dock any stars for this simply because it still works perfectly in this heat and most aftermarket equipment cant handle it. The LCD on my deck and clock completely blacks out until the A/C cools down the car a bit. Over all I am extremely satisfied with it and will definitely be buying at least 2 more in the near future.

Great features, works well.
I'm using this with a Clarion class D amp, an Amazon Basics Bluetooth receiver, and an Android tablet. I installed them all in the dash of my B250 van in place of the old stereo. It sounds great and provides good tone control, and the option to switch between two inputs is great. Before I installed this I was connecting the tablet directly to the amp with a headphone-to-RCA cable. Even with the volume turned up to 100% the Android tablet wasn't putting out enough signal level to reach the volume levels I wanted, and there wasn't a good way to adjust the bass and treble for different kinds of listening. I installed this equalizer and connected the Amazon Basics Bluetooth receiver (I made a power cable for it so it can run from a USB power supply, it only comes with a 120V power adapter) to one of the inputs on the equalizer. The on-board tablet connects to the bluetooth adapter. I attached the headphone-to-RCA cable to the other input on the equalizer. It does a great job of providing the amplifier with plenty of signal so that even if the attached devices have low signal level, the output to the amp is strong. Also it's nice having an actual volume knob. Since I'm using the Android tablet (or whatever is connected via bluetooth, like passenger phones) as a head unit, quickly adjusting the volume wasn't easy. With the volume knob on the equalizer it's more like a regular head unit.

performs like a $250 component.
this slick thin equalizer is the best i ever purchased,Im a master audio hifi car and home installer.Iv'e been doing this for more than thirty years.when I saw the clarion for $50 bucks,I not only looked at the spec, but how a small component like this along with the crossover feature could cost so little,I decided to give it a try.I'm running two 1200watts subs, two hifi mini tweeters, two submidrange double port front harmonic horns in a ceramic enclosed sub box,and also a single 1200watts subwoofer on one rear 1000watt two channel amp and one 1200watts front amp all in total of eleven speakers.the head unit is a boss also purchase from amazon, with cd/dvd.touch screen, bluetooth.Let me tell you that when I finish the installation,I stood amazed at the crisp solid sound it produced. It took me five minute to adjust the equalizer.I put in a rock concert dvd and you would think that you were at a live rock concert with pro sound management.the eq looks great with the blue back lit that matches the head unit.I highly recommend this component and dare to challenge anyone to outperform the sounds quality.thanks amazon for such a great price for this component. Also thanks to clarion for this great product. First Thing You Should Upgrade
If you're building a sound system for your car I highly recommend this being the first upgrade you add. You will need amplifiers to run the EQ's outputs too and a head deck with at least one RCA output. With this you have good control over the curve of your systems sound, and the sub knob can double as a kill switch for your subs, turn it all the way down if the police start looking at you funny. It also acts as a line driver meaning you get more power to the amplifiers, even when I was running a sub par system of just Sony and Kenwood speakers and subs this really livens them up. This unit accepts RCA input from the head deck in the form of RCA connection (one pair) to a main in. From there you can output a front, rear, and sub pair of RCA to your corresponding amplifiers. Probably the hardest part to setting this up (besides running RCA everywhere) is finding a power and ground location, you'll have to ground to metal on the chassis or get power and ground by piggybacking off a fuse. For my setup I just ripped out my ashtray in the dash and used the 12v cigarette lighters power and ground, luckily this unit fit perfectly in the space left after removing the ash tray. This does come with mounting hardware but for my use I swapped these for the mounting hardware from the ash tray and it worked like a charm. The only thing I would change about this unit is having it more bands, I'd love to have an 11 band EQ with this same setup. When I bought these were only $30 and after I used my first one I bought another for my next setup, at the current price $60 it might pay to look around a bit and compare to others. Either way, this is a great EQ!

Love these. Bright for night driving. Read about the other one, too.
Love these EQs, I used this guy for two years in two vehicles before I regretted selling it with one of them. Good build quality and easy installation, just be mindful that the more components you add in a car audio system the more opportunity you have for noise, I usually spend a good bit of time grounding and replacing connections to make sure my systems are quiet. ONLY thing with this EQ is how bright the LEDs are. Horrible for night driving if they are in view. I used to cover them before I eventually dimmed them with a coating of tint. ALSO, Audiopipe makes a ***9-band*** pretty much exactly like this down to the diagrams on top, available in Blue and Red LEDs, and they are not quite as hard on the eyes as they are further set in and don't have links to windows at the knobs to shine though, still quite bright at night but not as bad as this one. For a guy like me, I always want more adjustment, so I was all over the 2 extra, build quality is the same too.

Great product, ok shipping.
This product is simply fantastic. It was easy to install inmy '02 mustang and it made my system sound great. I have a 300watt alpine amp running my type R doorspeakers and a 600watt mb quartz running 2 JL subs. It makes he whole system sound amazing! The only part I was annoyed with it came on the very last day of thes shipping window so it did delay my installation. Over all great product would recomend it to anyone.
