This charming exploration of the night sky -- featuring a star finder and glow-in-the-dark stickers -- which has more than a quarter of a million young astronomers enjoying the night sky in countries around the world, is now completely revised and updated. A Child's Introduction to the Night Sky is the perfect introduction to the always fascinating world of astronomy. Children ages eight and up will find out what astronomers have learned (and are still discovering), what astronauts and scientists explore, and what they can find by gazing up into the sky at night. Author Michael Driscoll explains how stars are born, the achievements of the great scientists, the history of space exploration, the story of our solar system, the myths behind the constellations, how to navigate the night sky, and more. Whimsical color illustrations throughout and handy definitions and sidebars help engage younger readers and develop their interest. Also included are a nifty star finder tool and fun glow-in-the-dark stickers. Review: Pleasantly surprised - Okay I don't know why I was expecting it not to be this good. It's the perfect amount of information to keep me interested and keep my 8 year old entertained. The pictures are lovely and the book is sturdy. Perfect for our homeschool astronomy lessons. Review: good educationally - Interesting, informative & good to teach kids

Good book for upper elementary
My 3rd grader has very much enjoyed this book. There is lots of information without being dry and overwhelming. It would have been too much for him last year and he is an advanced reader, so I don't think it would be good for most kids under 8.

Beautiful, informative, inspirational book
This is the perfect book! I wish I had found this when my son was younger. I purchased this book for a boy from a low income family whom I chose from our clinic tree ornament program. It is absolutely beautiful and filled with easy to read Kama inspiring descriptions of our beautiful planets and other celestial phenomena.

Amazing book for kids who lovee the stars
I had a book identical to this almost 20 years ago. And when i found out my neice was into it I jumped at the chance to share with her all the joys I had growing up. Very educational and gets kids involved with a "101" for everything involving the night sky Would strongly recommend
