Remember Spot?
We’re big readers and I remember these books from my childhood. My eldest son, 18-months has been a big fan of these books. Short and digestible and simple story that is easy to follow at a very young age.

Very short reading
I love spot and so does my son. The book is very very short. Possibly a good book for early stages of learning to read but not for bed time story telling/reading time

Fun story, lovely drawing and high quality board book.
This book is my grandson, age 2, favorite book!!! Some days we read it over and over. Fun, practical story about every day life and the adventures to be found in these tasks that may be mundane to adults, but lots of potential for fun for children.

Cute
My 2.5 year old son loves this book! It isn't a lift the flap book but he enjoys it anyway. He loves seeing Spot push his miniature cart, since they have these at our local grocery store. Cute book.

Spot on!
I love Spot books. I was a teacher for many years & always had these books in my classroom. Colorful & engaging. Now I am buying them for our grandson.

This is the worst children's book I have ever bought - but we like it better now.
I bought Spot Goes Shopping because my daughter (age 2.5) loves dogs and enjoys the simple style of artwork in this book. The story is very rudimentary and at first, failed to engage either of us, and I wrote it a bad, two star review. The story has a beginning, a small crisis, and an ending which is simply "let's go shopping again". The crisis is simply that the puppy knocks over a pile of boxes in the market. When reading to my daughter I embellish the story, making it into a father daughter story with "Papa" and the puppy. We engage on pointing to the various food items, and making the "beep" sound of the cash register as all the products roll along the conveyor belt. As she has matured, she really likes this book and asks for me to read it to her. I am upgrading my review, from 2 to 4 stars.

Average and Incomplete
A very average book and its price reflects that. Its a good topic and could have been used better to provide a lot more detail and information that a toddler can use. Compared to the original lift the flap books, this one is pretty basic. They could have mentioned a lot more day to day items, a few more pages and maybe better designed. The book finishes in just three double pages and feels pretty much incomplete.A let down after the original books and I feel there are better books out there to teach your child about shopping or going to a supermarket. A pity, as it is a good idea for a book and something even child can relate to. My son grew bored of it quickly and it now lies at the bottom of the pile while his other 'spot' books are regular reading.

OK, but there are better Spot books
My daughter loves Spot and we have a few of the books, but I have to say this isn’t one of the stronger ones. As a few other reviews have pointed out there are no flaps to lift, and I think the flaps are what make some of the other Spot books so enjoyable for toddlers. The story is very simple and just shows Spot going to the supermarket with his mum. It’s something most young children will be familiar with, so it’s good for getting a conversation going about shops and my daughter likes to point out and name the various foodstuffs she can see in the pictures. This isn’t the best Spot book out there, but it’s OK, especially for the price that I paid. I’d say it is good for the 1-2 year age range.

Not a lift-the-flap book!
Disappointed as I thought this would be a lift-the-flap book like other Spot books! Maybe I didn’t read the description well enough. Also, it has Americanised wording so we won’t use it once my son is learning to read for himself.
