Excellent rendition of a popular romance trope, two strangers snowbound in a mountain cabin
Former Army Ranger, Harrison Wilkes, and author, Ivy Blake, are both around 30 years old and both are intensely in need of some R&R alone time to overcome burnout. Harrison has never fully recovered from the tragic, wartime deaths of close comrades that led him to leave the Army a few years ago, and his agonizing memories have been stirred up all over again because of the funeral for a former comrade who recently died in action. Ivy is a NYT-bestselling, thriller writer whose next book is way overdue because her creative well has run dry. Fate brings them together on a deserted mountain road in the mountains of Tennessee. During an increasingly hard snowfall, Ivy wrenches the steering wheel in order to avoid slamming into a bear that is lumbering across the road, and her car spins out of control, slams through a guardrail, and plunges over the mountainside. Miraculously, her car lands cradled within the outflung branches of a huge tree, and she is only mildly injured. When, soon after, Harrison comes upon the wreck, he heroically rappels down the mountainside and rescues Ivy. The roads have become too impassible from snow for him to take her back down the mountain to a hospital, so he drives Ivy to the nearby cabin he has borrowed from a friend, administers first aid, and protects her from hypothermia by warming her in his brawny arms, while the two of them are sitting wrapped in a blanket before a roaring fire. And thus begins the sensual, heartwarming romance of Harrison and Ivy.The romance trope of two strangers trapped in a mountain cabin during a blizzard has been done to death over the last 45 years and, honestly, it's not one of my preferred tropes. But this story is so riveting, I raced through it with continual enjoyment, because Harrison and Ivy are compelling, sympathetic protagonists, and this is an extremely well written novel. I have read practically every book this author has ever written, and for my personal preferences, this novel is in the top 3 of her very best books. It is also one of the best romances I’ve read all year.As a long time romance fan, I’m particularly jaded about sex scenes in romance novels, because far too many authors seem to offer them more as page filler than a way to advance an exciting romantic relationship. I’ve gotten so tired of boring descriptions of heaving body parts, I rarely do anything but skim over, or skip entirely, the vast majority of sex scenes I come across. In contrast, in this terrific novel, KN writes every sex scene with such intense, emotional connection between Harrison and Ivy that I happily devoured every word of these scenes. It is not necessary to have read any of the books in the Misfit Inn series by KN before reading this novel. But if you are a fan of that series and have read them all, as I have, there are some fun, brief cameos of favorite characters from that series in this novel. They appear just long enough to contribute to the romantic plot without aggravatingly taking up excess space in the form of a shoehorned-in, informal epilogue to their own books, which is a predictable and irritating tendency in far too many books that are part of multi-book romance series.I rate this book as follows:Heroine: 5 starsHero: 5 starsSubcharacters: 5 starsRomance Plot: 5 starsSetting: 5 starsWriting: 5 starsOverall: 5 stars

Finding Love Through Disaster
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and how they both, how he rescues her, not once but twice, how she rescues him, and jow they find love in the process.

Couldn’t put it down
From a military family I enjoyed the honesty of the characters. Also how the emotions were raw and handled gently.

Fantastic read
I could hardly put my Kindle down. I loved seeing into both characters; what made them tick. It's full & rich. No holes in the plot for a gulping reader to loose her way in.

Loved the hero...good romance
BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE is a standalone read with a HEA. Ivy has writers block. To get away and try to get her mojo back she books a stay at a spa in the mountains. On the way a big snow storm hits the area. Not use to snow she continues up the mountain, hits a slick spot, overcorrects and slides off the side of the mountain. There is no cell reception and she has no idea what to do. She is afraid if she moves the car will continue down the side.Harrison an ex-Army Ranger is on the way to his buddy's cabin. As he approaches a section of the road he notices the guard railing missing and he knows a car has gone over the side. He stops, gets out and sees a driver in the car. Pulling his rescue gear out and starts to repel down to the car. After getting Ivy out and back in his truck, he tells her she can stay at his cabin until the storm blows over. She is terrified going over every crazy killer thought about this guy. He is big, bushy beard, definitely a mountain man and she is afraid to even breathe. He takes her to the cabin, realizing she is afraid of him he gives her plenty of space. He gets the cabin warm, patches her up and then suggest she get out of the wet clothes before she freezes. They spend a night in the cabin where they finally get around to talking. He was so looking forward to the quite and solitude and now he is entertaining a guest. As the evening wears on they start to get to know a little about each other. I love the stranded in a blizzard stories. This was as good as they come. I loved the hero and you get a little bit of understanding what a returning soldier goes through. Ivy is somewhat of a loose cannon but she is just what he needs. It is a good love story, insightful about soldier's injured in the war from either physical or mental. It is a really good story. Short but gets the story told. I really liked it and definitely recommend it.I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 10/27/18

Harrison and Ivy...Low Angst
I enjoyed this book. I really liked Harrison and Ivy together. Ivy was funny, sweet, kind of quirky. I appreciated the way they helped one another work their issues.I would have liked to see more of their relationship after the incident had been resolved. I listened to the audiobook and thought the narration was well done.Even with the issues Ty, Harrison, and the other guys were dealing with, this book was not full of angst and left me feeling pretty lighthearted.

Really Great Series
I'm so enjoying this series and all the characters. I loved Ivy and Harrison's story. A chance meeting of two people that needed each other turned into so much more than either could expect. These two fell hard. A few twist and turns make for a captivating read.

Buyer Beware - Part II
Usually I read everyone's reviews. This time I didn't since it was Kait Nolan whom I enjoy. Rookie mistake. After the fact, I discovered a reviewer from the United Kingdom (Marie P.) on Sept. 13, 2020, who caught the same problem I did. The first six chapters are exactly the same as in "Snowed in with the Ranger" (prelude).Waste of my time... when "Baby It's Cold Outside" did the job all by itself. What a letdown. I call foul!

A sweet, feel good novella
Ok so I was a little frustrated as I read 'Snowed in with a Ranger' first which it said was a prelude to this book, but actually this book is an expanded version of Snowed in with a Ranger, so the first six chapters in this book are a repeat. Therefore you are better skipping Snowed in with a Ranger and just reading this - once I had had a mutter about this to myself and got back into Ivy and Harrison's story I enjoyed reading the rest of their road to HEA.Whilst it is a relatively short book and their relationship is fast, they are both a little older with some life experiences under their belt, so it doesn't seem rushed, just really sweet.I love the Misfit Inn series and whilst this book doesn't dig as deep (or as long) as those, it is a perfect accompaniment and just the right length for an evening read, just curl up and have a little me time.

simply brilliant
Really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. A broken hero rescues a woman in a blizzard. Call it fate but they meet each others need. She needs a muse to end her writers block. He needs a reason to let go of the past. Just the kind of romance that makes you feel good without being full of sex.

Loved it!
Read a few disappointing books recently and am so glad to have read this one now as the perfect antidote!I have a thing for forced proximity so that definitely helped but honestly, there is not a thing I would change about this book. Sweet, sexy, swoony, ex military hero and sassy, likeable, relatable heroine. Loved it!

Great story!!
This is the first book in a new series and what an intriguing journey Harrison and Ivy's story is. I was completely captivated throughout this riveting and addictive page turner and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

A great book from a terrific author
Baby It's Cold Outside is a wonderful, easy to read book with great characters and a fabulous HEA. Ivy gets much more than she bargained for when she ran away from her writer's block. Harrison's self imposed solitude didn't go according to plan either. However, both of them found exactly what they didn't know they wanted or needed. I definitely recommend this book.
