Solves the problem of running wires
I'm in a situation where I cannot run wires to my surround speakers, without some crazy (and expensive) professional install. Took a chance that this would solve the issue, without major drawbacks. Boy did it!! This thing is fantastic. Couldn't be any easier to set up. Connect your speaker wires to each receiver. Press the connect button on the bottom of each receiver, and walla, you are in business. My 8 year old daughter pressed the connect button on the one receiver, while I pressed the other. That's how easy it was to connect. I was worried that there might be a delay in signal, but no such problem. I have a Yamaha RX-V671 receiver. Used the room correction program with the provided setup mic, and found no problems with the rear speakers. System sounds great, and now I have the awesome surround that I was expecting when I bought the receiver. Couldn't be happier with this purchase. Don't hesitate.

Works Great
I moved into a new house and don't have a good way to run speaker cable to the rear channels of the media room and didn't want to run thru the ceiling if I could avoid it. Got this setup to go wireless for the rears and it works great. Super easy to wire up and the transmitter and receiver synched with each other right away. The units are about 14 feet apart, not directly facing each other and there is a big coffee table between them - I'm pretty impressed. My amp has a sound calibration sensor that I set up in the middle of the room to balance the channels. It calibrated spot-on on the first cycle - so assuming zero lag. I've tested it with TV shows, sports, DVDs and a variety of different music - low to loud volume. It all sounds just as good as when I had my rear speakers hard-wired. Glad I found this little set-up!

Works great but is fragile
Works flawlessly for me. Only complaint that cost it a star is the build quality, the plastic is very thin and brittle and the construction is very flimsy, I actually had to disassemble the transmitter (the small box by the way, some people seem to confuse that and claim the product does not work) to reinsert the cable fasteners that got loose and fell inside. Be careful when installing and don't leave it around the floor where it cam be kicked, stomped or hit by anything and it will work ok.

Incredible device. Simple to setup. Poor reviews are criminal!
I was a little nervous picking this up after seeing the poor reviews on Amazon, but some other sites had relatively promising things to say, so I went ahead and ordered (got it for 80 after shipping from 3rd party on Amazon). I have to say it is worth every cent and then some! Setup was a breeze. (Some reviewers mention mixing up the sender and receiver, though I don't see how. The tiny slightly larger than a beeper box is the sending unit. The larger box with volume control is the receiving unit.) The included speaker wire isn't very long (2 strands ~3 feet), but it was sufficient to run to the sending unit from my receiver. I then used my existing speaker wire to connect the rear speakers and the receiving unit, which is conveniently hidden under the couch. I used a Dolby Digital Test Disc to see if it worked, and did it ever. My wife and I sat in awe for about 10 minutes, absolutely blown away by the sound. I wanted to stay home from work and watch movies all day ;) Another issue I saw on Amazon was that the speakers would hum when there is no audio source. I have the volume maxed on the receiving unit, and after cutting off my Onkyo receiver, the hum was not obvious. When my wife had her ear about 3 feet from the speaker, her exact words were "it just sounds like night." This may be more obvious when using bigger speakers, but it wasn't a problem for me. If it is an issue, you can simply turn off the sending unit, and the hum is 100% gone. In summary, don't let the negative reviews on Amazon turn you away from this great device.

The Boldest Lies Ever Told
I was VERY skeptical about buying this, but took a chance because of all the guarantees of 0 interference from the company itself that are printed directly on the box. Well, it turns out that this actually interferes with EVERYTHING on the 2.4Ghz spectrum. Cell phones, microwaves, and the worst of all...a wireless internet connection. Everything causes interference with the audio signal, which causes the sound to either sound horrible, "crackly," and at times just vanish completely. The deal breaker for me was that it slowed my 20Mbps internet connection down to less-than-dial-up speeds. It got so bad that at times I completely lost my wireless connection. That being said, I had two options: 1) Buy a wireless-N router that operates on the 5.6Ghz spectrum (which would also require me to upgrade every wireless connection in my home to avoid interference on the 2.4Ghz spectrume) 2) Return this item and get a different wireless audio system that operates at 5.6Ghz. I went with option 2. Granted, both solutions were very pricey, but I ended up with a unit made by Amphony. Difficult to find, but I did manage to find a discontinued model on their website for under $100. It works just fine with almost no interference at all. Occasionally, you here a little buzz when a wireless connection is first established near a speaker, but that initial buzz is it. The biggest issue I have is that the receiver shuts off after about 5 minutes of no sound and when it receives the audio signal, it makes a loud popping sound. It's annoying, but I got used to it. I can deal with it if it means I don't have run wires through my living room.

I've had it running fine for several months...
Once I had the system PROPERLY hooked up, the set up worked fine; and has been working fine since then (knocking on wood). But when I first set it up, I couldn't get it to work. I was worried about the negative comments, and I called Rocketfish to find a solution. The tech spent about 30 seconds talking with me, didn't really seem to possess any knowledge about the set up, then recommended I return it. Refusing to accept this I went back through my wiring again, and found a loose wire on one of the speakers. It was causing the rear speakers to cut in and out. I doubled checked all connections, and made sure they were nice and tight. Once I did this the system worked just as expected, and I have not had a problem since (knocking on wood again). I bought refurbished, saved a few bucks, and now have surround sound to my rear speakers without any wires. It is a great concept, and I think it works well. If you have problems, consult this review forum for solutions, as many have posted problems and fixes for things that are typically the fault of the installer and not the product. Besides the tech support, I highly recommend it.

Exploded on first use
<<<UPDATED>>> Well I ended up buying this product for far cheaper from BestBuy and it worked as advertised on first use. No tinkering and no explosion this time. Simple plug and play. A few weeks of operation and the surround sound works great. Perhaps I just had a refurbished product the first time or a dud? it did look like the box that was sent to me by an Amazon reseller had been opened and re-sealed. Given the better performance on the second time around, I'm updating this to a 3/4 star review. PREVIOUS REVIEW BELOW: Okay, terrible product. I followed the instructions, wired everything correctly, and had it ready to go. I turn on the receiver/amplifier unit for my rear speakers and it promptly exploded with a loud pop, sent out sparks that burned my couch, and emitted a tiny puff of smoke and melted plastic smell. Needless to say the Blue LED didn't come on after it exploded. It was DOA. Perhaps it was damaged in transit but the shipping box and item box both looked fine. Very disappointed in this product.

If running wires just isn't an option, this is a great substitute
My room has vaulted ceilings with a less than 6" drop. The room is 24x13, and the outer walls are heavily insulated. I don't want to tear my carpet up, and the room is too wide for a reasonably priced area rug. If this situation sounds familiar (I.E. - running wires is just simply too hard, or too cost prohibitive), then the Rocketfish Wireless Rear Speaker Kit is for you. I have been using mine for over 2 years now everyday, and I still enjoy it and think it is sufficient for most setups. Audiophiles will disagree, but if you are just a movie lover, or a novice home theater lover, this product is more than satisfactory for your needs. The set up is easy and took me less than 20 minutes. The Rocketfish satellite receiver is nice looking and easily concealable, as is the sender, and the product does what it says it will. Unfortunately if you're running 7.1, you will need two of the device, as it only accommodates 1 set of speakers per unit. The only other product like the Rocketfish I could find was a Bose Wireless Rear Speaker Kit, and it costs $250. I haven't used the Bose kit, but for over double the price, I'm willing to just stick with my Rocketfish. One thing to note, due to the lack of power the satellite receiver provides (only 20 watts per channel), it does not have enough power to run Dolby True HD or DTS HD Master Audio, so if you can afford to sacrifice the uncompressed audio formats, then this product will suit you just fine. Pick this one up if running wires is not a viable option for you.
