Immediately my favorite shoes!
Wow - I usually don't pay this much for shoes, but these are worth it!I got the "tan rustic" - mine were a bit lighter than in the photo, but that could just be my computer screen. They look really good - like very expensive shoes somebody's had for years that are broken-in and comfy. The laces are really cool, too.I wasn't sure about sizing, reading prior reviews...but for me, my usual size (9) was perfect. The leather is very soft and even with no socks on, they're amazingly comfortable, especially for an oxford.YES the toe is a little longer than some styles, but not ridiculously-so.YES the toe curls up a little bit, but not a ton, and if you want them less-curled, put the ball of the empty shoe on the edge of a table and push down on the heel and and the tip of the toe to stretch then top a bit and reduce the curl...the leather is so pliable that you can shape the shoe how you want it. I have a fairly wide ball of my foot, and they felt a little tight through there, but after stretching them a little bit as described above and wearing them just a few minutes barefoot, the leather relaxed and molded to my foot shape beautifully.I have extremely high arches, so I don't get a ton of arch support, but the shoe is way softer and cushier inside than any other oxford or dress shoe I have ever had. If you really NEED arch support, I'd say order a half-size up and put insoles in them - but be aware that the toe might be extra-long for you. Or I guess you could get the arch supports that only go under the back half of your foot, and order true to size. But even with my high arches, these feel wonderful.I liked them so much that I immediately splurged and bought them in black, too.I can't rate whether they are comfy for long wear because I haven't had them long enough, but I will update later.Per some of the advice on this website, I will be taking them in to get a thin rubber sole put on the bottom...the leather sole is classy but I am a klutz and it's pretty slick! I also want to preserve them so they last as long as possible.Hope all that helps!

Great shoes which require immediate maintenance
Here's the deal with all these Bed Stu shoes ... and I own 4 pairs so my math is checked here:Pro:Comfortable, stylish shoes. I always get compliments. I'm a NYC girl and I have literally walked miles in these babies. Once I walked 72 blocks in a pair of Litas. I really think they're great. The lighter colors look great with skirts. They're quite the thing with rolled up jeans. This black color is a little funky for work, but the white ones are perfect.Con:If you intend to actually walk around in these puppies, you have to, fairly immediately, go out and get Vibram soles put on them. This will cost you >$20 bucks in the city. But you have to do this before you wear them out on sidewalks with puddles. This is because if you don't, the leather soles will get soft and the beautiful stitched edge will be ruined. Ruined and unfixable. See my picture attached. I didn't get the white shoes taken care of fast enough and... I went to my trusty shoemaker who has worked footwear miracles for me in the past, but he said there was nothing he could do.One note about the black color. The pictures really don't show the color very well. They're probably just as brown as they are black. In the photo, they look sort of yellow almost. In reality, these shoes are not yellow at all. What looks yellow is brown.

Are we really calling this a 'new shoe,' Bed Stu?
**Update - This shoe (since being replaced with new ones) is AMAZING! So comfy, so sexy, so stylish. Love, love!Because it isn’t. It was rather hard to believe that you would actually send this shoe to someone. Whatever happened to pride, perhaps even a little bit of ego--something that says your craftsmanship, as well as your integrity, are superior? Has society become so absorbed in social media and their handheld devices that they no longer pay attention to the detail of their lives, specifically that which they consciously spend money on, like these loafers? Say it isn’t so. I’m still shocked to see both shoes complete with the exterior of the heels worn, and so much so, that some letters in your brand’s name can not be made out. Worn. What about the dirt so deeply embedded on the sole of the shoe that the stain shows gray? If you can’t see that, what about the left shoe, the way that someone’s inner ankle bone was so large that it caused a permanent curve in the leather? Misshapen. Did you see that? These weren’t just tried on, they were worn, for maybe a week or two, then returned, and somehow I ended up with them. Interesting, because I didn’t get the, “By the way, Ms. Young, we’ll be sending you a used pair of loafers. I know they’re the exact same price as new ones, but these are ‘vintage’,” memo. I guess there is something to vintage being the new used, just not here with my purchase when I’m expecting something new! I have to say that aside from the loafers being someone’s used shoes, they’re cute. That being the case, I’m giving Bed|Stu one more crack at it with an exchange. Should this second round go wrong, it’s a wrap!

Made by hand
I love these shoes! I take a size 8 but after reading reviews about the fit, I decided to order a half size larger. The shoes fit well enough. They look so nice. I like the fact that the polish on the toes is uneven and not identically applied; it reminds me to be thankful because someone worked hard to make the shoes I'm wearing. I would definitely buy Bed Stu shoes again. The shoes feel very sturdy and they have a nice Shen on them, though I know that it will wear off a bit as I wear them. I keep looking at the Bed Stu web site wishing I could buy another pair in a different colour. I'm glad I discovered this company.

very small
Fit: I normally wear 6-7 in Bed Stu, and 6-7 in Frye. Lita in sz6.5 is very tight lengthwise and widthwise. I also bought a pair for my mon, who always wears sz6, and these are tight on her as well.Quality: the two pairs I got were slightly different. One had a small damage on the heel. Is this part of the "uniqueness"? :S

I had been looking for the perfect pair of oxfords for years now
I had been looking for the perfect pair of oxfords for years now, and these are definitely them! They are beautiful and so comfortable. The only negative is the sole is quite slippery with just a small rubber grip on the heel area, but I haven't found it to be an issue yet.
