Leo Lionni’s first picture book has at last found its perfect format in this sturdy board book for the very youngest child. Little Blue and Little Yellow are best friends, but one day they can’t find each other. When they finally do, they give each other such a big hug that they turn green! How they find their true colors again concludes a wonderfully satisfying story told with colorful pieces of torn paper and very few words. This classic tale of friendship also offers a playful introduction to color concepts. Review: This was a book my mother read to me in the 1960's & I've never forgotten it. - This is such a delightfully well illustrated book that introduces our differences and how we can embrace them at a fundamental level in a way a very young child can understand. I was delighted to find that this book is still in print so I could order it for my 3 year old grandson. Review: I highlighted recommend this book to Montessori guides to introduce primary colors - Children love this book! It’s a wonderful way to introduce primary colors. We even used a little yellow and a little blue playdough for act play and it was a big hit!

was my favorite book as a toddler. And I can tell it has a lot of success with kids I offered it.

A favorite for teaching compassion, understanding, and acceptance
There is nothing to dislike about this book; it explores differences, and unity, in simple fashion…the jump from an object such as a little dot, to people, is not far from the obvious, which is part of its beauty. Adults can learn a great deal from this simple story!

My favourite childhood book
So simple and yet so touching; I loved it in Italian when I was very little (along with "Inch by Inch" by Lionni too), now my son loves it too and reads it in a different language than I did. Maybe what I appreciate the most is how this book can cross boundaries of time, language, and place. It is truly a universally enjoyable narrative.

Charming as always
I have been a Fredrick fan since childhood and still read it today when I get stressed, so always looking to have my kids find the same connection with the Lionni works. Got this and 2 of them were bored, but my 4 year old was different. She listened intently and has for months been making diffent associations on how things mix or work together for an end "just like little blue and little yellow". Perhaps she is the most like me, poor thing! It is in the same vein as the others but less obvious, which is not neccessarily a bad thing. Encouraging thought and imagination requires careful writing and too many modern stories spoonfeed the moral. I accept and encourage my 4 yr olds interpretations!

It is such an amazing story about being oneself but also being a friend
This book was a gift. It is such an amazing story about being oneself but also being a friend. The illustrations are simple but beautiful. Perfect to inspire the young reader. The board book format suits little hands.
