Big Wolf and Little Wolf (Big Wolf and Little Wolf, 1)

We love this story about how a new little friend just shows up and kind of sneaks into your heart. Great for foster families, adoptive families or blending families. Little Wolf just appears one day and settles into Big Wolf’s space. He is simply there and when he goes away one night, Big Wolf is worried and very relieved when he shows up again the next day.

I was introduced to this book during a reading Final Four. It moved me to tears…in front of 2nd graders. This is a story of friendship, trust, and a reminder that we all need someone. Get this book!

If I could give this delightful book more than 5 stars, I would! This is a book of friendship; it's beauty is in it's simplicity. The book opens with a lone wolf (Big Wolf) living under a tree at the top of a hill. Then enters a new character, Little Wolf. New to both the reader and to Big Wolf. Big Wolf is curious about his new little intruder. They didn't speak a word to each other, but they watched each other. "Their looks were curious- not mean or suspicious at all." This sentence reveals the gentleness in Big Wolf's heart. Big Wolf goes about his daily and nightly routine as usual with Little Wolf joining in. Just when Big Wolf is getting used to his little friend, Little Wolf disappears. "Big Wolf felt uneasy for the first time in his life." "There was no one under his tree." "It was like before. Except that now Big Wolf was sad." As a reader, you can feel the pain and sadness of Big Wolf. Big Wolf is so distraught, he doesn't eat, sleep, or exercise. Big Wolf waits for his little friend. He waits and thinks about how he could be a better friend if Little Wolf returns. Will his friend return? "For the first time in his life Big Wolf's heart beat with joy." The readers heart beats with joy in perfect rhythm with Big Wolf's. The book ends with the beginning of a beautiful friendship! This is on my favorite book list- a must for any child's library. I can't wait to read more from Nadine Brun-Cosme. The illustrations are beautiful and full of emotion. Nadine Brun-Cosme and illustrator Olivier Tallec make a perfect pair just like Big Wolf and Little Wolf.

Like so many of Enchanted Lion's books, this one may lead to lots of interesting conversations. It speaks to the heart in an usual way. The illustrations are lovely (at least in the 2009 library copy I read), and it doesn't have the standard feel of a typical U.S.-produced. It is much more nuanced. A great book!

This gorgeous book came to my attention almost a year ago so I was over the moon when it became available again!The illustrations are simple yet lush. The story is heartwarming and tender.The book is large with high quality printing and heavy paper. Big Wolf and Little Wolf immediately became my 3 year-old grandson's favorite book, to be read before every nap and bedtime. 5 stars!

I love this little book. The pictures are gorgeous and the story is very touching. I bought it for myself and will enjoy sharing it as well as returning to it from time to time.

This story touches the heart on many levels. It shows how a person/animal who thinks that they are just fine being alone, really needs the company of another. Loved it!

I love this book. The illustrations are so sweet and the story is even sweeter. This book highlights the importance of friendship and allowing others into your narrow sphere. I highly recommend this to anyone who values quality children's books.

A sweet, lovely story about loneliness and loneliness. In a world full of anger, jealousy, angst, lies and violence - this should be on every 'must read' list for adults and children <3

Beautifully illustrated and such a moving story which created conversations about friendships. This book deserves to be in lots of homes and being cherished.

Such a wonderful book! And with such amazing illustrations! Both my husband and I read it and loved it - and we’re grown-ups in our 30s. The story is simple but profound and the illustrations are out of this world! ❤️

Such a beautiful book. A heartwarming tale for children and adults alike. The book was much larger than I expected which was a bonus. The illustrations are a joy to behold.
