It moves a ton of air
I’ve been thinking of upgrading a cooling system in my 2002 trans am , and I finally I made it reality I did it.I removed the OEM FANS AND INSTALLED THIS FAN AND INSTALLED the Derale FAN CONTROLLER AND BYPASSED THE FACTORY SET UP , what a difference I was able to have the fans come on at the temperature I decided not the ECM PRESET 22 years ago. This fan is the honest CFM IVE TESTED OTHER MFG STATING NUMBERS THAT ARE TESTED ON S BENCH AND NOT MOUNTED ON A RADIATOR WHICH IS A TRUE CFM RATINGTHAT IS A GEMICK DON’t FALL FOR A FAKE CFMIt’s truly moving tons of air when you have to pull air through the radiator, ac condenser and in my case a trans cooler and it’s pulling the air even at low but when high comes on watch that temperature gauge drop, my only complaint it’s not quite but I’m ok with it it’s keeping my internal engine running cooler than before and engine compartment benefits alsoI made the decision investing in this 2 speed fan with a true CFMmaking the temperature I tell the system what temperature I would like it to come on which now it starts at 180 and shuts down 165.Back to the fan at low speed it is in my measurements meter it moving almost 1 1/2 times more air then OEM system but it’s louder,But when the high speed comes on WOW I WATCH MY TEMPERATURE GUAGE DROPS 19 degrees in 3 mins but the noise is very noticeable,,But the performance of the fan out ways the noiseIf your looking to really move large amounts of air threw your radiator I feel confident here’s the answer

2 weeks and fan clip let go
What a piece of junk the retainer clip for the fan blade is. Let go, jammed the fan, melted the fuse in the Derale controller, and now Derale won't answer their phone 30 minutes before they close. A nylon lock nut would have been better. Every hardware store sells them, bu NO they use a one of a kind tempered steel spring retainer made of unobtainium. Buy a S.P.A.L. unit. I will. After I dig this thing out and limp home.

Derale electric fan
The fan appears to be made well and is fairly quiet while running. I installed it on an aluminum radiator with the included hardware kit. It held the fan tight to the radiator but I wasn't getting enough airflow so I made a radiator shroud. If the vehicle had more room between the radiator and engine water pump pulley I would have bought a fan with a shroud.

cool fan moved lots of air for about 30 min ...
This was my second attempt with this product. Both fans moved lots of air for about 10-20min then started smoking and froze solid. Ok live and learn. I should have listened to the other reviews

Junk
Fan is locked up within 3 hours use. This is the second one of these derale fan that has locked up on me with very little use. Talked with derale and they say they have no known issues.

Derale Sell SPAL fan under their name at an inflated price
I order 2 Derale Fans from 2 different website. I was pissed off to find that Derale buys SPAL fans puts them in their box and resells them at an inflated price. There spec sheets for current and CMF don't match the actual spec sheets from SPAL. Never but a Derale Fan. Go on SPAL's website and find the actual fan you will be getting.
