Lead doesn't break easily - Comfortable
Pros: Think lead is sturdy and does not break easily. Comfortable grip. Attractive.Cons: Eraser tiny. Eraser cover is a bit of a bother. Clip short and not secure.

Comfortable to write with
Being left handed and pushing the tip of a pencil/pen across the paper I tend to break thinner lead easily….this pencil is sturdy and gets the job done.

The Shaker lives
About forty years ago, I bought a Pilot Shaker H-1010 mechanical pencil from an office supply store. It was simple, unique, elegant, and magical. It was my primary writing instrument for years while I went to undergraduate and graduate school.A decade later came the Dr. Grip pen with Gel ink, and it's counterpart mechanical pencil, albeit without the "shaker" mechanism. It's main strength was that it was thick and soft. Plus, it was endorsed by the Arthritis Foundation. I bought one of each as well, and I was happy and pleased with the thicker and softer format.Fast-forward to 2023, and I find myself looking for the original Pilot Shaker on the internet, mostly out of nostalgia. And what do I find? Apparently, my two favorite mechanical pencils ever married each other and had a child, the Dr. Grip Shaker. Pilot Shaker on the inside, Dr. Grip on the outside. Who could tell???The combination of the two former products, plus the 0.9mm leads has yielded the best ever mechanical pencil I could ever ask for. Needless to say, I recommend this product!

More Comtrable than the PILOT Dr. Grip Limited Mechanical Pencil, 0.5mm
Note: this is a shaker pencil, the metal tube inside is so that you can shake instead of click to make the lead to come out. This is ideal if you don't want to reset your hand position while taking notes or writing during an exam. The metal tube is removable if you do not desire the shaker feature. As for the lead being shook around, only load two pieces at a time, the second piece seems to always be locked into place, so avoid loading a third one if you don't want it shook around.Pilot Mechanical Pencil Dr. Grip G-Spec, 0.9mm has a softer grip compared to the PILOT Dr. Grip Limited Mechanical Pencil, 0.5mm, Metallic Platinum Barrel which has a much firmer grip. However the Pilot Mechanical Pencil Dr. Grip CL Sky Time version is still slightly softer than this 0.9 version. The pencil is not counterfeit since it's origin is from Japan. It's a genuine product and is not fake. The tube to load lead is metal compared to the other two pencils that contain a clear plastic tube. The lead in this pencil seams to be HB, so it will need to be replaced if you want darker lead such as 2B. The lead seems to be a little harder to come out when using the shaker feature compared to the 0.5mm versions which require a much gentler shake and the lead comes out with ease. In the end I still prefer my Pilot Mechanical Pencil Dr. Grip CL Sky Time, 0.5mm, Sunrise Red (HDGCL-50R-SSR) due to the absence of a clip and much comfortable to hold. The Pilot Mechanical Pencil Dr. Grip G-Spec, 0.9mm is still comparable to the Sky Time due to similar softness of the grip so the switch is seamless when a larger lead size or hardness (lead color) type is needed. If you are using 0.9mm to avoid breaking leads, the 0.5mm versions also don't break leads since the pencil is higher quality compared to the cheap plastic tips from other brands such as Papermate. It's actually pointless to use this 0.9mm pencil since the lead doesn't snap on the smaller 0.5mm sizes and the lead comes out much faster when shaken. I never broken lead on my 0.5mm pencils no matter how hard I write. Pentel and Pilot leads are higher quality than Papermate lead. Don't cheap out on lead or mechanical pencils, it does make a huge difference.

The Most Ergonomic Mechanical Pencil?
This might just be the most comfortable Mechanical Pencil I've ever used. It's very nice to hold in your hand. I would suggest that it's a little front-heavy as the top side is nearly all plastic. But I think on a Pencil like this, it's not a big deal. I purchased the 0.9mm Lead Size, as this is my favorite size Lead. And make no mistake, Pilot is an excellent company that I have never had issue with. Would buy this again.

Great pen if you have larger hands
I'm a student right now so I write A LOT of notes. I guess I have a subconscious vendetta against paper since I have a hard writing style. I like to use mechanical pencils which means I have to use 0.9 mm or I tend to break leads if I'm not careful. I used to use the ink pen version of this pencil and I loved it so I decided to try this and the Sumo Grip 0.9 mm mechanical pencil. While I do like the Sumo Grip, I always seem to gravitate to this pen. It just feels more comfortable and the writing feels so much smoother. I feel like I'm writing with a thinner lead but it still feels strong. There are 2 ways of getting more lead out of the tip. The shaker works but you have to do it kind of hard to get some out. I don't use it much since I feel bouncing my extra lead in the barrel might not be the best for them. The more typical mechanism on the eraser works just fine. Speaking of the eraser, it erases great! However, it's tiny so unless you want to be replacing this a lot, just buy a separate eraser. I recommend the Mr. Pen retractable eraser but that's just my own preference.***TL;DRIt's a great mechanical pencil if you have a harder writing style, need a thicker barreled mechanical pencil, or just want a good 0.9 mm mechanical pencil. Writes smooth and feels like a thinner lead. Just get a separate eraser since the one on the top is tiny

This pencil is very helpful
This pencil was recommended by my occupational therapist to ease pain in my hand when gripping. Thin pencils are difficult for me to use, but this one makes it a little easier.

Heavy handed writers, unite!
I write really hard so I have never had good luck with mechanical pencils. The lead breaks so easily they are just not worth the time or trouble. Until now. This pencil is FANTASTIC! It is big and sturdy and feels great to use for long periods of time. The silicone grip is very comfortable and the eraser and lead advance smoothly. But best of all... between the design of the pencil and the thickness of the lead, it is virtually unbreakable! I can write as hard as I do with a pen and it takes all the abuse I can throw at it. I'm VERY pleased with this pencil. No more wimpy little skinny mechanical pencils for me. I'm going with this sturdy but comfortable little beauty from now on.

Awesome stationary to use!
This is my favorite one to use every day journal. Very comfortable to use. Some people complained that there's a metal moving inside the pencil, but it is for shaking to get the lid out as a function.
