S.E. Vick Tool #12 11/64" VIX-BIT - For No. 12 Screw, Self Centering Bit

I use this bit on NYC commercial trim jobs hinging solid doors for knock down frames. I only use the smooth shank bits because the impact guns will break the bit mechanism over time.

I have had multiple knock-off versions and none of them compare to the Original VICK'S Bits - they are just far superior. the steel quality and bit quality are remarkable. I have burnt out several knock-offs in under 1000 holes, Vicks bits start needing maintenance at 10000 plus holes. As in cleaning out the dust inside, check the spring and the way you go.

It’s a must have item for installing continuous hinges

I have used these for years to install commercial door hardware. This product is a classic that always works well. I have had several of them. If you are going to buy one however make sure it is the Vix-Bit brand. None of the knock offs hold up even close. Some of them the bits aren't replaceable.

I work in commercial construction and Vix bits are the best bits you can buy, they are pricey but they will last you decades.

I like the Vick just wish the were like bit cheaper in price

Well the guys I work borrow mine everyday. They either don't even know what it is or they buy the $2.00 Chinese knockoff that doesn't work. Either way mine gets used. Using it on fire rated doors you will need to clean it regularly. I am going to try Boeshield on it and see if it helps the bit clean out easier. This is the "Real Deal"! Made in the USA!

As a professional commercial carpenter I need my tools to perform 100% day in and day out. Don't mess with the cheap knock-offs. Vick brand bits are the only self-centering bits that do exactly what they were designed for and will last for years even with the heavy abuse of a construction site. Also They are the only manu. that I've found that makes the proper bit for the screw size.
