Not Heavy Duty - Buy More Than You Need! (12 mm Review)
To begin, I want to avoid being too harsh on a product that costs 1.3 cents per unit. That's insanely cheap. And once installed, the snaps do work, although I find these snaps to be not as "snappy" as I would prefer. They don't really "click" firmly closed, and the hold of the snap is not very tight. But I am satisfied enough that I'm not going to take them apart and do the project over again. A couple other points:(1) Installation of the snaps with the provided tools works, but I found it to be very inconsistent. After getting lucky with my first few attempts, I found that I was ruining or deforming almost as many units as I was successfully installing. Granted, I was installing on a thicker strap, across a seam, which is challenging. Your conditions or project could be more ideal. But I recommend buying quite a few more units than you think you need, to account for wasted product during install. (If you have a fancier pliers-like tool that will definitely help, as long as it is the correct size for these 12 mm snaps).(2) The "gunmetal black" color is a very shiny metallic color, that seems more steel-grey on installation. Very reflective. Definitely not a cast iron black, if that is what you are hoping for.(3) The 12 mm snaps cannot handle very thick applications. I was using these snaps to replace the worn-out Velcro on the straps of our patio cushions. For one type of cushion the snaps were barely able to handle the thickness of the straps. For the second type of cushion we have, the snaps absolutely would not work. The post of the snap was just too short to make a good connection for the crimping installation. I have now order some 15 mm snaps, which have longer posts, for the second batch of cushions. I have included two pictures with this review. The first shows successful installation on the slightly thinner strap, and the second shows the slightly thicker strap that these snaps couldn't handle.

Frustrating
The instructions are not adequate enough for someone who has never set snaps before. I'm a sr citizen and the print is so small I had trouble even with a magnifying glass. I figured out the caps and posts but the other two parts could not be figured out by the tiny pictures so just had to do trial and error. I understand they are reasonably price and you do get what you pay for. Finally got a practice set installed and I'm not satisfied with the way they snap together - it is not a crisp snap and one is left wondering if it is correctly closed. They must be because it's a strong tug to open them.

They worked great for me!
I purchased a snap kit from a big box store so I could attach the Molle holder to my Duluth trading over thr back seats organizer. After much cursing, broken snaps, and smashed fingers I gave up and threw the kit away. I found this kit on Amazon and it arrived within two days. The difference in kits is night and day! I attached the molle to the back, which faces forward and is accessible from the front seat. After I found how easy it was I decided to fix the organizer and add snaps to the long pocket. The organizer works great with a few caveats. They failed to bring the Velcro down far enough on the pocket and if you put anything heavy in the pocket it flops open. I like to carry my hiking poles and my tripod in the pocket. Problem solved with my newly added snaps. I think I’ll be snap crazy for awhile fixing things that have been irritating me with all of my hiking and camping gears. Well worth the money. If anything changes or they don’t hold up well over time I’ll be updating my review but for now I’m extremely happy. Money well spent and I did purchase these with my own money. I was not compensated in any way from this company. This is my honest review.

EXACTLY what I was hoping for!
I hate sewing buttons, can't imagine trying to replace a zipper. Used these on work pant cargo pockets and an old work coat. Results were PHENOMENAL! Make sure you use several lighter hammer taps instead of one big one. Holds tight, takes more than a light pull to open the snap, exactly what I needed. Awesome kit!

Not high quality
They work, but the metal is thin. Finish wears off. Ok for the price.

A great kit for repairing coats, hobbyist or leather craft work!
I have a nice coat that I like to wear in the wintertime and it has 9 pockets that close with snaps plus the snaps on the sleeves. About 6 snaps fell off over a short period of time so I purchased this kit. It was about the same price as the small package of snaps from the local fabric store. With this Amazon kit you get a lot of snaps and the tools to install them, which is necessary bonus. The original snaps were not installed properly on the jacket. I used the tools to re-rivet all of the remaining snaps and it worked perfectly. I then replaced the missing snaps and they matched the original snaps. They were the right size and color. The installation was easy and simple. The kit comes with a tool to punch holes into cloth or leather. I didn’t need it but it is nice to have. There is also a flaring tool and a metal anvil to use while flaring/riveting the snaps. This is a good kit for making or repairing garments and coats. It is also an ideal kit for hobbyist or leather craft work. This is a good kit for the money and I am glad I got it. It saved my favorite winter top coat.5 stars!

Works well, priced well.
Works just like you would expect. Fair pricing and all tools other than a hammer are included. When fastening the top button it is important to keep the punch as straight as possible. Bit of a learning curve.

Very inconsistent
This kit is very inconsistent. Even when applying the hardware gently it easily bends the wrong direction, the tool provides doesn’t appear to be perfectly round which could be why. The metal will split and bend all in one direction which makes it uneven and hard to snap to other piece. In addition the round part of the hardware slides around on the metal holder which contributes to error. I’d say maybe 1/10 applied properly which is very frustrating, many of the snaps are very difficult to get apart once installed and can cause your fabric to pull and tear. I would not recommend this kit.

Great quality for the price. Comes with added tool to make hole in fabric. Instructions on how to use on the lid. Very happy with them and will definitely reorder.

Great quality, sets easily.
I’m using these to strap a cosplay suit together. I’ve done this before with other snaps for my 501st stormtrooper and these ones would work well for that. The quality is great and I’ve only messed up maybe 2-3 in the 40 I’ve set so far. I got the bronze ones for this current project and I’ll buy these again if I need more.
