Does this boot scraper need to be "nailed" down - it looks like it would slide around when using it?

No. The benefit of this one is that it doesn't need to be permanently affixed. To keep it from sliding around. you just stand on one side with one foot to hold it in place, while brushing off dirt with the other, and then switch.

How does it do with pine needles and leaves? That's mostly what gets tracked into the house.

Well....since we live in the high desert and use ours to get the dirt, cactus spines & little rocks out of our shoes, leaves & pine needles are not what we usually need to get off of our shoes... But, we have camped in our travel trailer, in the mountains on occasion, and, since we take one of these with us, it has worked well with the pine needles & leaves. Seems to be a good little item !

HAs anyone purchased this product to use for sandy feet? If so what is your experience?

I would like to get something to clean beach sand off of my feet. I looked for baby powder brush, and didn't find anything. Could you be more specific about where I could purchase this?

The coco fibers look similar to some door mats, where the fibers come off and settle all around the mat. Does that happen to this scraper?

It does wear down, but it takes a long long time. We had one for years before we needed to replace it thru Amazon. A few fibers might come off, but it's nothing like those mats that youre talking about. It works well, so we always pack it up in our trailer when we go camping & use it then too.
