Used commentary for a Bible study

I have been waiting for a long time for a good Catholic Bible Commentary Series. This one is excellent. Keating writes well--it's not dumbed-down, it's not overly academic, it's simple and straightforward. He makes use of a myriad of translations, from Catholic standbys like the New American Bible to more popular Protestant translations like the NIV and King James. There are plenty of sidebars which encapsulate Church Fathers' teachings on the particular passage at hand, and a glossary of terms at the back. I am looking forward to purchasing more books from this series.

Finally a comprehensive, scholarly but accessible bible commentary from a catholic source. This book and others in the series are amazing. The writers depth of knowledge of Greek and different translations, authoritative interpretation with strong reasoning behind them are wonderful. I have a much clearer understanding of these books of scripture. I only hope they continue and do commentaries on every book of the bible eventually.

I only completed the section on St Jude before I had eye problems restricting my reading. I found this section well written, easily understood and I look forward to completing my reading in the near future.

Amazing commentary. Makes me faill in love bible again and again

This commentary is detailed and gives the reader needed information for understanding the content-meaning for the people of the time it was written as well as for us today. The language and grammar are easy to understand for the average person. It's a great addition for any person who wants to study the Bible in-depth with exergisis in mind.

Arrived on time. So far it is a wonderful commentary with more insight to the scriptures. Awaiting other volumes not yet published to come out
