A Picture Book of Memories
Having grown up in LA during the early years of television (and subsequently making it my career), I found this collection of images a real nostalgic trip into the past. The text accompanying the photos is concise and well researched, but mostly serves as a caption to each image. I had many colleagues who worked with the author, so I was looking for a more personal reflection on the life and times of LA TV from an insider. That said, it is a great book for an overview of the people who made this an innovative time in the development of television.

A great read and a lot of fun
A great read and a lot of fun. Brought back the memories of being a five year old and watching a young Stan Chambers of KTLA on a 10" screen in the 1950's at the neighbor's house. Also Bill Welsh on KTTV. A ton of great photos with great captioning. Also brings back memories of going to see the shows in person at the (then new) CBS Television City and the 1313 N Vine St. studios. Remembering Red Skelton, Danny Kaye, Judy Garland and Art Linkletter shows, plus all the shows on KTLA and KTTV. Obviously a lot of research went into the production of this book that certainly brought me a tear of nostalgia. Kudos to Joel Tator. Nice work!

A Must for LA Natives
Joel Tator has put together a tantalizing overview of LA television history - and he has been a part of it for many years, so he certainly knows! From "Time for Beany" to "Sheriff John's Lunch Brigade", from Putnam, Latham and Dunphy to Brokaw, Marlowe and Moyer and so on, this is a wonderful and informative and nostalgic trip through your video childhood -- along with glimpses behind the scenes. There was a limitation to the number of pages he could fill - and accordingly, the number of things covered - or rather left out. So the only question is: Joel, when can we read volume 2?

I can't recommend highly enough Joel Tator's new book
For those interested in LA Television, I can't recommend highly enough Joel Tator's new book, "Los Angeles Television." Mr. Tator has captured all the history, nostalgia, behind-the-scenes stories through text, clippings, promotions, excellent photos, even television tickets (another hobby of Joel's). Whether your interest is in celebs, studio facilities, tech curiosities, or just local history, this is a treasure trove. And no, I have no ties to the book or Mr. Tator; just glad to have picked up this great work!

An amazing collection of pictures and stories!
Brilliant! A marvelous compendium of stories and pictures from the earliest days of experimental TV in Los Angeles up to the present day. With his years of experience, Mr. Tator has pulled together a wonderful collection of memories and rarely told stories that make this book a must-have for anyone who loves television.

I lived it, so I loved it.
Because I lived this book, I loved this book. I was born and raised in Ell Lay since 1950, so I remembered just about everything in this book as if it happened yesterday. I especially enjoyed the section on local news, it brought back many memories.

A beautiful book. A wealth of facts and stories of the early days, many of which had been forgotten, or never known. Mr. Tator has accomplished a great service in documenting these memories. Excellent work!
