MightyMind Sea Explorer/Aquarium Design Book

Normally I wait until I've had a prodcut for awhile before writing a review. This is a nice (plastic) spiral bound flip book made of heavy card stock (the same as the cards included in the basic set.) There are 26 different images to make with the tiles. You can either use the tiles you already have from other sets or you can use the "template" included to make your own. There is an extra page with a complete set of the assorted tiles in the various shapes and colors. There are instructions on making your own tiles using the sheet as a guide, but you could also just cut out the tile images included.Regarding the designs you make, they do not start out with very basics like the starter set does. They start out with more complicated images. The first being a crab. Many of the images have you place a second layer of tiles for eyes and such. Because of this there is a smaller image on the page so you can see where you're supposed to put the second layer once you have placed the first layer down. The background of each page includes different undersea images.The back of the book includes pictures of how you could solve each design.I am really grateful for this book. I've been using the Mighty Minds set to help my daughter with spatial skills. When we completed the basic set, I wanted to buy her another set, but didn't want to invest more than $20 to get another complete set. I was able to buy just the cards for $8.If your child has already completed a basic set, this is a great addition. If they haven't done the basic set, they may need guidance on figuring out how to use this as it does not start out slowly. Ultimately, this is a good tool for figuring out shapes/designs/and spatial figures.

I was under the impression that this set included the tiles, which it did not. When I received the book it said "includes tiles OR format to make your own". Of course they would rather include the format than the actual tiles :-(
