Works great!
This rake truly does everything it says it does. It's dependable, strong and it can pull a lot of snow off at once. It's also light enough that someone with a gimpy shoulder (that would be me) can use it without aggravating any old injuries. It would be even better if it had roller wheels to keep it from scraping against shingles, but if you're willing to be careful, this rake will do the trick at a great price point. There are some negative reviews about the lip of the rake being on the wrong side. It's exactly where it is supposed to be. The bent lip does not go against the shingles. There would be no way for it to sink into the snow on the roof if that lip was at the bottom. It's the straight, no-lip edge that sinks down into the snow and helps you clear it away. The lip is supposed to be at the top so that the snow you're trying to pull off the roof doesn't just raise up and over the edge and land right back on the roof when you're pulling it off. The rake is very simple and easy to use. The assembly is easy as long as you follow the manufacturer's instructions. My rake is in its fifth season, going strong, and performing well. The only problem I had with it is the nuts and bolts in several sections came apart while using it, pretty much all at the same time during the first use. They just loosened up with use. It's important to tool-tighten them during assembly and recheck them occasionally. I contacted True Temper and asked for the measurements of the nuts and bolts so I could get more at a local hardware store. They were kind enough to send out a replacement pack at no charge. This rake really did a great job helping me fix some newly forming ice dams.

Quality snow roof rake
Outstanding product fairly straight forward assembly, a little blue 242 removable loctite on the screws is a good idea so they dont loosen while using it. The oval shape of the pole makes it very stable even when fully extended, the push button extension is also a very nice system and work well. At 17 ft fully extended If you need something for a 2 story house this prob isnt your tool but its perfect for one story homes or areas that are lower or hard to reach from the ground. It is also light enough to control easily from the ground and , the plastic shovel is nice for not hurting the shingles as well. I read alot of bad reveiws about roof rakes...People remember to take your time and go a little at a time with raking snow off your roof, you cant just try and grab huge chunks of snow and expect ANY roof rake to survive any lenght of time. Go a little at a time you can see when your grabbing too much snow then jerking on the rake until it breaks I think user error is alot of the issues with bad reveiws about snow roof rakes. This unit is a very solid tool if you dont need something longer than 17 ft this is your rake. The telescoping pole is really nice and works very well. The pole also has a textured surface on the lower pole itself so it dosnet slide out of your hands...a very nice feature. Pick this up you wont be sorry< I am VERY happy with this purchase.

Pretty decent “roof shovel”—but lousy assembly instructions
The instructions to assemble this were really deficient—instead of words, they rely on very poorly drawn sketches. That’s the only reason I marked only 4 stars, because once assembled it seems very sturdy. It definitely works well. I can reach all but about a foot of the top row of my solar panels (I have 2 rows) and all of the bottom row, all from the ground of my single story ranch style home. I simply drag the snow off onto the ground. So effectively after clearing them, I have the equivalent of 12 of my 13 panels, or 90%. That’s pretty good. There are some really misleading answers to questions and reviews, which apparently are about a previous model. This model is accurately described, with a 3 piece telescoping oval handle that reaches 17’. It’s easy to use with mittens on and has several intermediate adjustments if that’s what the user needs. The lowest segment has a rough finish, making it easier to hold onto when wet. The segments do not come apart, so there is no need to “construct” the handle each time. It could not be easier to use.The bend in the uppermost segment is exactly what it should be, so that the scraper part of the shovel easily rests against the roof, or in my case, the solar panels. One reviewer said that it was bent the wrong way and couldn’t be installed the right way. Wrong! It could be mistakenly installed either way (remember, I said the instructions are pretty poor), but using one’s head, it should be installed only the correct way.Because self-locking hardware is used, I seriously doubt that it will come apart on its own, assuming that the assembly was done correctly. Perhaps the reviewer who said that the hardware was defective and loosened doesn’t understand self-locking nuts.Except for the abominably deficient assembly instructions, this is an excellent roof shovel, and I would unhesitatingly buy another one if this one were to wear out or be damaged.

Excellent roof rake
I live in Maine and we get heavy, wet, and sometimes icy snow. I looked at a lot of rakes online and settled on this one. Looks like I chose correctly. The assembly wasn’t hard at all but a little bit time consuming. Maybe 20 min. The part where you push the clip that has the push button on it in to join the rake head with the pole could be a little better explained as to exactly where it should go but I figured it out. The pole is lightweight and sturdy even when extended. The fake head is sturdy and did a great job at gripping and chopping through about 7” of crispy dense snow. In 40 min or so I did both sides of my house and garage two feet up. I’m 50 and had to take a couple of short breathers but it was fine.

Very easy to use
One thing I learned right off the bat, if it's a wet snow, don't try to take a full swipe at one time. Go up a couple of feet, pull the snow off and then take another bite. Otherwise, you will tire out. Another thing to consider is the slope of your roof. I have about a 5 or 6 grade (not steep), so you cannot reach as far up the roof. The roof edge/gutter will stop you from reaching up. Very well built and easy to handle. I recommend it.

True Temper lives up to its reputation as being good tools.
I just used my True Temper snow rake to remove over 6" of snow from my mother's phylon covered patio cover. The tool did the job quickly & efficiently. It is well made & should last for many years. The handle is well made & extends easily locking in place at your required length. Its rough surface makes it easy to grip. Note that not all handles similar to this are created equal. The only modification I could suggest is maybe 3 or 4 little wheels at the bottom so it clears the surface screws holding the phylon panels in place or doesn't scrape the surface of asphalt shingles. However, the plastic blade is light enough that it didn't do any damage by lifting it over the screw heads. Very happy with this tool.

Does a great job
Worked a treat on our cabin. Easy assembly and they give you extra locking clips incase you break one. No problem at full extension handling it to reach the top most part of the roof from the ground. Thankfully got rid of the need for a ladder.

Excellent Roof Rake
This is an exceptional roof rake. Very high quality. Telescopic so it takes less room to store, and oval shaped shaft for extra strength. Plenty long enough. I highly recommend this roof rake.

snow rake only
The handle is of oblong in shape and has a grip coating to prevent it from slipping out of your hand. The end doesn't have a thread on it so its only use is a snow rake. It seems to be a well built unit
