Great transition book for toddlers
My grandson is moving from board books to standard bindings. This one is his favorite. Short rhyming text. Encourages counting and color identification. There is a penguin to find on every page. Best of all it has sturdy pages that are great for little hands.

Very entertaining read (for me too!)
This book by Jonathan London is a great simple book to read to a 2-3 year old. I am sure older and younger kids than the said age range would thoroughly enjoy this. There are several things that make this book very interesting. Apart from nice rhyming words, this book features funny sentences like "A plane goes klankity klan, a plane goes va room, a plane goes zippity zooma and a plane goes kazoom. This always makes my kids laugh. Although the book itself reads about airplanes, the pictures show an additional story. It is about a family of 4 who go to see an airshow. There is also a fun element where the little girl always has her penguin and my kid and I have tons of fun trying to find where she put the penguin on each page.Honestly, I have not come across many children's literature that have these many levels of engagement without being pop-up etc. If your kid loves airplanes, he or she will love this book. They don;t fancy airplanes, they will still love this book and maybe even start loving airplanes. Great book!

bright colorful gouache artwork
Rhyming quatrains energize this book about various types of planes: "A plane could fly fast/ A plane could fly slow/ A plane could fly high.../ ...or very, very low." Bright colorful gouache artwork depicts closely the events of the rhymes. Children will love to guess at the words used to complete rhymes.
