The Infinite Question

Psychoanalyst of Genius.
While the general trend of psychoanalytic technique throughout the world seems to become less and less interpretative, and this trend begs the questions of whether contemporary psychoanalysts became generally more philistine, unintelligent, or just too chicken-hearted to utter their interpretation in palatable manner. But in psychoanalyst of genius, as Christopher Bollas is, his interpretations-within-questions are admirable and enviable. And, certainly, such technique is not easy to be copied. His manner to present his sessions with patients in two parallel columns is an ingenious invention, that makes (his) clinical cases readable and understandable (for me, at last).

A Pretentious Title
Bollas aims too high and shoots too low. This is a pretentious title for a pretentious book. The quetions Bollas tries to address are all too finite. As the Queen, Hamlet's Mother would have said - as she did to Polonious - 'Less art and more matter". However, it may gently entice the beginner without doing him any harm.
