I wanted to like these but they are going back
My old mountain bike shoe's soles (Giro) split from the shoes leaving me stranded on an advanced trail in the middle of nowhere. Time for new shoes and to look at another brand. I saw these and liked that they came with Vibram soles and based on reviews I thought we had a winner. The first thing you notice when taking them out of the box is the weight. Darn, they are heavy. I'm not a professional cyclist so it is not the end of the world plus I caulked that up to the thick soles (although the uppers feel heavy too). I thought I would try them on my exercise bike before venturing off-road. Unfortunately, these taper at the end and crunch my toes making them terribly uncomfortable. I do not have wide feet and ordered a size 12 (46).I had hedged my bets though and also ordered a pair of Shimano MT5s that arrived the same day. Those are amazing. Construction is lightweight yet sturdy and they look and feel like sneakers. Very happy with that purchase. These are going back.

Finally! A Comfortable clip-in shoe!!
I tried 4 different shoes at 2 different bike shops, and only took home the Bontrager shoes as the only ones I could seem to deal with. Yet after less than 2 miles my feet were killing me, and the left one went numb. Now I have bad flat feet, so please don't take this as a knock on Bontrager. I simply have a very hard time finding shoes that are comfortable for my condition. ANY arch support in any insole creates problems, etc. So imagine my surprise when I put these on and it was like an AH HA! moment. So I installed my SPD clips and went for a ride all the while afraid it was too good to be true. I can say now after a week of riding both on singletrack trails and spinning on-road for exercise that I couldn't be happier. No foot pain at all & comfortable to walk on (cleats recessed and not interfering with normal walking). A++!

Nicely constructed, comfortable and versatile mountain bike shoes
I have been looking for some reasonably priced yet decent clip-in mountain bike shoes for some time. When I saw these I thought they looked perfect for my needs. I wanted shoes you could walk in -- sometimes biking in challenging terrain I need to get off and give the bike a rest... With the vibram soles (apparently over a hard plastic layer that is between the vibram and the upper shoe structure) these are very reasonable to do some walking in. I read the reviews and appreciated the observations that indicated these shoes are on the narrow side. I have narrow heels but a wider forefoot. My normal shoe size is 9-9.5 depending on the shoe. I chose a metric size 43 and it was an ideal fit for me, very comfortable. They may be just a tad long, but the width was right on and I had no problem with the length when biking or walking, they felt great! (I'd rather have them a little big than too tight!) The velcro closure system gives a wide range of adjustment. No apparent hot spots or excessive slippage that could generate blisters. And that's saying something for my weird feet. I am new to the clip-type shoes so I need to get used to getting the shoes into and out of the pedals. I found the "into" especially challenging, but I'm sure it's just me... I always got them engaged after thrashing around a bit, and was very pleased with the increase in the pedaling efficiency, it was very perceptible. Now it will be interesting to see how long they last, they will get used a lot!

great value mountain bike shoe
Just had my first ride today with these shoes and I'm very impressed! Fit was perfect, I'm a size 10 us and the 43 EU fit great. Road over 10 miles on varied terrain today with no foot discomfort, pain or blister! So my first impression is that this is well made quality shoe that is just as good if not a little better than my old Shimanos for less money. Only thing I'd advise is to buy them direct from Tommaso instead of Amazon. They were $25 less direct. I paid $100 from Amazon.

They work for me...
It's important to note, this is my first pair of clip-ins so I don't have a lot of expertise in this area. I do buy or have bought specialized shoes for other sports for many years (Golf, Volleyball, Baseball, etc.) To be honest, it's something you should go get fitted for at your local bike shop. I just bought them on a whim to go with my new road bike. They fit snugly and I would have gone up a half to a whole size if I bought again. That said, they are not uncomfortable and they seem to be breaking in. As I said, I don't know much about bike shoes, but if they were too loose, I can imagine they would be sloppy getting in and out of the clips and might not work as they should. I had to crank the clips in pretty tight to keep them from sliding from side to side. I was worried about over torquing them but they seem to have held firm on my last ride. Note that these are made for a two hole application only.

Good shoe a little snug for wide feet
This seems to be a well made shoe and, unlike what some reviewers have said, they are no harder than any other bike shoe I’ve owned to get the clip to engage. Some people had indicated they thought the clip was too far embedded in the shoe. I did not find that to be the case. I wear a 10 wide shoe. I bought a 43 which in the US is a 10. At first I thought I might have to return them because they were too tight. But after using them several times I think they’ve stretched out some. They’re still snug but not too snug to wear. I expected they’ll stretch out more with use.

My husband loves these biking shoes!!
I was worried they would be too narrow, as my husband has wide feet. I was pleasantly surprised when they fit him perfectly!! He loves the velcro straps (in lieu of laces) which provide a great deal of adjustment for tightness, and no worries of loose laces!! They have a wide reflective strip on the heel, which is great for additional safety for night time cycling.
