Fantastic case for the price
There have been several negative reviews of this case surrounding it's strength. I think those reviews need to be tempered with a little reality. If anyone orders a $15 case and really expects it to be comparable to a $75-$100 Pelican case, they need to seriously rethink their shopping strategy. This is a $15 case and is a fantastic product for that price. Would I trust it as a standalone piece of luggage on an airliner? Maybe not, but I've never seen a $15 case that would meet anything near that criteria. I just wanted the ability to store several items, both gun and non-gun, that made them both more resistant to damage than a soft side case, and be easy to transport. I've been to many gun shows that have offered countless cases that were inferior to this one, at the same or even higher prices. I've bought more than one of these cases because I was so satisfied with the first, and I intend to buy even more of them. They offer good, sturdy storage without breaking the bank. The plastic won't support an elephant, but is plenty strong enough for typical storage, and I feel perfectly safe tossing them into a closet or storage room with multiples of other items on top of them. I can stand on top of mine (carefully) without damaging it and I'm on the not so pretty side of 200 pounds. It bends and flexes, but it doesn't break, and it returns immediately to it's original shape when I step off. Another reviewer mentioned that these appear identical to another reel (as in rod and reel) case. He is correct. Aside from the color and some words molded into the cover, these cases are totally identical, except this one is cheaper. A major advantage of three pieces of foam in this case, besides allowing two levels of storage, is that one of the pieces of foam has hundreds of tiny, pre-perforated sections in it. You just tear out whatever pieces you want to create a custom 'mold' for whatever item you want to store, whether it be a gun or some other item. Much easier and neater than trying to cut out special shapes on your own. I used Pelican cases many times to transport equipment during my military career and they were great, but those cases would be serious overkill for my personal storage needs. If you want the ultimate in protection or are concerned with possible severe treatment like you might get with some airline baggage handlers, then $15 cases really aren't where you should be looking. But if you want simple, durable, reliable and inexpensive storage for your guns or anything else, then you can't do any better in this price range than these cases.

Very good pistol case for the price
The Plano Four Pistol case is very good quality and functinality in the price range. This case is an inexpensive case, as compared with some brands that are much more expensive. One must alter their expectations accordingly. Motor Trend magazine never does a side-by-side comparison of the BMW 3 Series to the Ford Fiesta... even though they are both cars. The Plano case will hold four full sized pistols. When I say full sized, I'm referring to a 1911 or Glock 17 or similar. If you have a huge hunting revolver then you have special storage needs. The three foam system works nicely to allow you to separate the contents into two layers, each protected on both sides. I find the foam to be suffient to hold the contents firmly enough so that they don't move in transit and handling. However, I have mine loaded up on both sides of the foam separator. If you load only one side, you might not have as snug a fit. The external case is ABS type plastic and is very durable. The hinges and latches work well, and the handle is comfortable and well fitted. The case has "feet" molded into the back hinged side so that it can be stood alone without danger of tipping over easily. There is also a "hasp" ring that can be used to lock the case with a padlock. There is a place for the expensive cases and reasons to own them - like for air travel, etc. But there certainly is also a place for the less expensive no-frills cases like this Plano case. Good storage, good protection, and decent security. All at a very affordable price. Bottom line is that this case give perfect quality and function for its price. Five stars.

Nice...less expensive case.
I bought three of these to store my pistols and other misilanous items in my gun safes. They seem to take up less space than the same items in gun rugs. My opinion is these boxes are great for storage. They have enough foam padding inside to keep the layered pistols in place and not letting them slide around after the lid is closed and secured. That said... I have several Pelican, two gun, form fit cut out cases that I use for range trips, and travel. I would not use this case for travel with multiple pistols or revolvers. But for convenient safe, damage free storage in a gun safe, these work great for me. I will probably buy two more for my needs. Added note: These case's are not water tight/proof...or in my opinion moisture proof.. That said... I spray the foam "lightly"...very lightly with Rimoil and let it sit out for an hour or two before I load the case and close the lid. I have never had a problem with moisture,or rust in these types of storage boxes. Hope this review helps...happy collecting.

Good case for keeping pistols, knives, etc.
It's great for the price. Not nearly as sturdy as a similar sizedPelican case, which you could probably drop from 20 meters and still be perfectly intact. This is a bit more flimsy. I don't think it would survive a 10 meter drop with a few pistols in it. BUT .. It's a lot cheaper than a Pelican, and if you're just using it at home, or to take your gear from home to the gun range and back, it's an incredible value. I own 2 now. 1 for pistols and 1 for a knife collection., because I don't need an expensive Pelican case and this case serves me flawlessly. As my collections grow, I'll probably get another.

Unbeatable Budget Protection for Firearms!
I recently got my hands on the Plano Protector Series Pistol Case, and I must say, it's a real steal for the price! As a budget-conscious gun owner, finding quality products at an affordable price is always a win, and this case truly delivers. The durability of this case is surprisingly impressive, especially given its budget-friendly cost. The construction may not be as heavy-duty as some high-end options, but it provides more than enough protection for my pistols during transportation. The latches and hinges may not be over-engineered, but they get the job done, keeping the case securely closed. The interior foam may not be as fancy as custom-cut options, but it fits my pistols snugly and prevents any scratching or shifting. The customizable foam layers are a thoughtful addition, allowing me to tailor the case to accommodate different pistol sizes and accessories. Despite its affordability, the case doesn't compromise on portability. The ergonomic handle makes carrying a breeze, and its compact size easily fits into my range bag. Plus, it's lightweight, making it hassle-free to transport. In terms of design, the case may not have all the bells and whistles, but its simplicity is a plus. It doesn't draw unnecessary attention while still providing the necessary protection. The matte finish is a nice touch, and overall, it's a neat-looking case. I've put the Plano Protector Series Pistol Case to the test during numerous range trips and short travels, and it hasn't let me down. For its budget-friendly price, it delivers more than enough value and peace of mind knowing my firearms are safely stored. To sum it up, if you're on a tight budget and in need of a reliable pistol case that doesn't break the bank, the Plano Protector Series is a fantastic choice. It offers unbeatable protection for its price point and is a great addition to any responsible gun owner's gear collection. I wholeheartedly give this case a solid 5-star rating! (Note: This review is based on my personal experience and opinion as a budget-conscious customer who purchased the product from Amazon.)

Awesome case for the price
I bought this case to customize for my remote control quadcopter, so this review is not based on holding a firearm. It's a very nice case, exactly what I needed. The case itself is good quality for the price, sturdy plastic with a simple industrial look. It has nine plastic hinges which makes it more rigged as opposed to having two. It might not survive falling off a 4 story building, but it will be safe bouncing around in a trunk or closet. I feel that the usable space is maximized by the shape and design, some cases have weird shapes or blocked off sections. The customizable foam inserts are cool and easy to use, although it appears once you tear out a shape from the foam grid it will be permanent. The foam is soft which is a good thing for me but I could see a heavier firearm not being held tightly. Personally if I were going to carry around a firearm I would spend a little extra for a heavy duty metal case or a more customized case with stiffer foam. It has a hole to place a small lock near the handle. It seems it would be easily defeated if someone really wanted to open this thing, I would not trust it to secure a firearm. I didn't knock a star off because having a little security is better than none at all, but if the case had one flaw that would be it. I give this 5 stars because it is a quality budget case and I don't think you could find much better for the price. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a decent case of this size for a low price.

Great Product Great price! Perfect for My Glass Pieces/ Glass Art work! Dig it!
I Actually bought this case to hold glass not for guns, I'm A glass blower so I am using it to hold my finished glass artwork! Such as Wine Glasses, Marbles, Pendents, Pipes, jars , etc.It was on sale when I bought it and was also free shipping with the super saver shipping option. I like the fact that I can put two layers of glass in it and the foam on the bottom layer you can customize to fit whatever you want! It's perfect for Glass And I'm probably going to get another one if there still the same price? I think if I remember correctly it was roughly $11.00 which is awesome! I would recommend it to my friends but If your going to be carrying guns I wouldn't know I'm not a big gun person, I know it wouldn't be too hard to break into considering it is made of plastic. Not to say it's weak plastic it seems to be nice and rugged sturdy tough plastic. Perfect for Glass & I'm sure just fine for guns as well. unless your trying to keep them from getting stolen, in that "case" no pun intended lol! I would suggest a gun safe! I give it 5 starz from The BoroSillyKid! aka Z.R. ;)

A case for all reasons
Due to the rigidity of the design & plastic, combined with three (3) layers of foam inserts (2 of which are 'egg-case' surface shaped), this case can handle a lot of different tasks and do it well! Based on the fact that there are 3 layers of foam, this case, in fact, becomes a "2 protected layers" container. Concerning my initial experience, I bought this case to protect a rather expensive gaging system and it is perfect for this type of application. Further, as an added bonus, I found that with the "2nd layer" I could also add a 12" x 12" by 1.5" thick "Grade A" granite plate (which weighs a fair amount)along with the gage. So, I have well over $3,000 of product that is not only proctected by this case, but this is a great carrying case, so these items are enabled to be portable (but protected) by using this case! This would also make a great case for shipping or carrying lap top computers that need extra protection (can you imagine taking a lap top out in the field and having it better protected against dropping/rain/snow, plus having a second layer to protect any accessories?), assorted electronic devices or, of course, multiple hand guns (the original purpose). This case is somewhat water-proof (short of throwing it into a lake), so if you are carrying something that you wish to protect in adverse weather conditions, this is a great product. Going one further on the hand gun issue...... Even though this is a "4 gun case" my thinking is that if you only use 1-2 guns in transit, the buttom layer is a great place to store accessories, ammunition, etc...... Plano does make great products, I have always had good luck with what they make and quality is definitely built into their product line.......... The quality of high impact plastic, type of foam used and the foam shaping (the 2 'egg-case' surfaces help 'grab' anything inserted, to better hold it in-place, as well as offering superior impact protection versus flat-faced foam)in itself is impressive! But, take it one step further....... All of the above, combined with a very good latching system and the ability to lock the handles to prevent theft (but more importantly, makes sure the case does not 'accidently' open-up). At the price you pay for all of these features makes this a case a literal "steal." To sum it all up: You absolutely can not go wrong buying this product and you will always find a use for it!
