I've already resigned myself to the fact that no review I could ever write will do this book/series justice. Mere words cannot hope to encapsulate how perfect Mindfck is. Yes. PERFECT.While this is a serial killer/dark romance, at its core it is a brilliant revenge story, a story about a young woman who by some miracle managed to survive the complete upending of her life, the harrowing destruction of her soul, her sense of self. What happened to her and her family left me genuinely sick, horrified, and a bit numb after a while. The absolute depths of depravity and evil are just... I will never have the words. (For sensitive readers, I beg you to take those trigger warnings seriously. They are no joke.)What follows, however, is Lana's brilliant and pitiless revenge upon an entire town that tried to silence her, upon those that did her unspeakable wrong... it is a brutal retribution that I think any survivor of SA wishes they could enact in some way, shape, or form. Because that's really what this book drives home - that corruption is literally in every aspect of our society and there are too many forced to endure as victims, too many denied any semblance of meaningful justice or peace. In that sense, this is definitely a revenge fantasy on steroids... but there's so much soul to this book and the characters are all fantastic. You'd have to be completely devoid of empathy not to root for Lana.This book is a catharsis.It is violent and bloody? Without a doubt.Is this all kinds of morally dark gray? Absolutely.Did I still relish in Lana getting her revenge after what she endured, though? Without a doubt, yes.This book is the perfect balance of compelling plot, tension, unexpected twists & turns, mystery, dark comedy, heat, romance, and a surprising amount of heart. The writing is brilliant, the pacing is excellent, and the romance between Lana and Logan is impossible not to be emotionally invested in. The entire time I was fully in support of Lana getting her long overdue revenge while also hoping her and Logan's relationship would somehow survive in the aftermath, because Lana deserves some freaking happiness and peace, yes, but also their chemistry is just so good, those two were made for each other.This book has left a mark on the very core of my being.With a timeless message about suffering, healing, and the refusal to be silenced, this book offers catharsis to anyone who has ever gone without receiving the justice they deserved. Easily one of my favorite books/series of all time, hands down. This deserves way more than 5 stars.C.M. Owens was a brilliant writer and while I'm heartbroken to hear that she's no longer with us, I'm so grateful for this story she left behind. I will be carrying it with me for the rest of my life.

Book's physical condition: The book arrived in good condition. It looked brand new which is what I ordered. There was some scuffing along the front cover, but nothing that was so bad that I felt the need to return it. It didn't look like it'd been stepped on, thrown around, or mishandled a bunch during shipment. There also weren't any missprints or missing pages as I was reading.Book Review: I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I only read dark romances on occasion, but this is definitely at the top of the list. I will say this book has some situations that are HARD to read. Amazon will most likely flag the whole review if I try to even list them out, but if you aren't used to dark romances or are still learning what trigger warnings you can handle, I would definitely look up the ones for this book prior to purchasing. The whole book/series flowed together rather seamlessly. It did start off a little slow for me, but when it picked up man did I have such a hard time putting it down! The characters were easy to connect with and the plot was so thick it was insane. I can't even imagine going through what the FMC did and it still haunts me even a month after finishing this book. I can say this one is worth the hype, but once again, only if you can handle the trigger warnings.

Alright so we can just get this out of the way here -I see why some people do not care for this book but I honestly cannot help but wonder a couple of things when they don’t, such as1) did you really read the whole thing? 2) did you go in with an open mind? 3) do you realize this is fiction and thus not supposed to be realistic? 4) did you understand this is dark/horror romance so there would be dark and possibly graphic themes?Okay so now we can move on.I love this book with my whole being. Sure, there are some things that I side eyed (formatting mostly but quickly that didn’t bother me at all) and I’m sure the “insta” love bothered a lot also but I’m the wrong person to judge that based on my own track record, irl (I’ve been married for almost 15 years to the insta love of my life so sucks for you it took you so long to find your love).This is dual POV, which I love more than anything and the fact the serial unaliver was a woman? Chef’s kiss. My ADHD brain really likes this was dialogue focused SO much and it didn’t take me long at all to fully be invested.I prefer Lana so much more than Logan but I’m a girls girl, so let’s just say it’s one of my many red flags and move on.The plot kept me completely invested, even if I did guess the final person 💀 , it did not ruin the climax to the end for me at all.I cannot help but wonder the absolute treasures we would have gotten from St Abbey (aka CM Owens) if the world did not lose her when we did.I will rec this book forever. ❤️

This was the perfect book for people who are into CSI criminal minds combined with all of your favourite horror films the classic ones though. I absolutely loved getting behind the scenes of some of the twisted people. You don’t usually get to hear the other side when you’re watching those movies or TV shows. The spice was very suspenseful. I found the perfect amount of spice because I was so entranced with the plot of the book. Absolutely worth a read and opens up a whole new type of books.

I love this series with my entire being, seriously, it's in my top 5 of all time. I have smacked a few friends because they haven't read it. That being said, I am only keeping the physical book out of pure love and loyalty. The format sucks, not in a functional way because you still get all the content, but it definitely feels like it was printed without a demo. Books and chapters start on the left, everything is printed back to back, plus there are a bunch of blank pages at the end. Not like they didn't print the whole thing, because everything is there, but more in the sense that it feels like they thought the book would be printed in a specific number of pages and they ended up using less but didn't bother to take out the ones that weren't used.But like I said. This series is AMAZING and I want to be buried with it. Happy reading!

Seriously, read about this book on a amarican thriller group.. The price was holding me back but in the end I was happy I bought and read this one. It has all the things a good thriller needs to have.. The twists are epic.

This is THE GREATEST BOOK ever written when it comes to serial killer romance — actually it’s just the greatest book ever, though some might disagree and they’d be wrong. It’s perfect. The book is so thought through, and you’re not really sure what the plan is, neither what Lana plans nor what the author is planning as you go along but you just keep reading because it is awesome. I have never been on the exact same wavelength as a character before but here it’s just spot on! It’s truly amazing how the main character is so real and so relatable and funny! There’s sarcasm, jokes, trauma, abuse, rape and murder, torture, screams and sex. I cried. Multiple times! And when it was done, I cried some more, mostly because the author is dead and the book was finished. I have legit read over a hundred books since this one and non compare.

This is a really good thriller with a strong, intelligent FMC.The story is well written.Each book/chapter is a new development and ends with a cliffhanger.Even the secondary characters are important and have their own story for the purpose of the intrigue.Please check the trigger warnings.
