2019 GMC 1500 SLT with multi-function tailgate. The slow descent function on my tailgate did not operate, and after two trips to the dealer to have it repaired - it was not repaired. So this was a simple and low cost solution that solved the problem. It took me 10 minutes to install, and took care of a problem with these tailgates because of a poor design by General Motors.

Works great and install was easy. Brackets included and you reuse factory hardware. Use two pliers to open up the clips to connect. Took 5 min to install with correct tools (wrench/ pliers)

I gave a 2021 GMC with a multi position tailgate which is rather heavy. The Mrs. Is tiny & quite short. Before installing the Dee Zee tailgate assist, she struggled when lowering the tailgate, it would often drop with a crash. This device ads tension to reduce the weight & prevent the tailgate from dropping. Allows me to just use 1 hand with no risk of dropping the tailgate. Strongly recommended this device, put them on my last 4 pickups

I used to get disgusted when the tailgate would slip my grip (like in the rain); or my bum shoulder would act up at the wrong moment while lowering the tailgate.That just "bounced the rear suspension, while trying to yank out the support cables" disgusted moment.Not anymore, this baby does the trick.It takes a second for the back pressure to "grab" , but it does.I do a pull the handle while walking by gesture- to come back to an open tailgate that soft landed.I'm glad I didn't pay for the big bucks packages (where this was the only option I wanted) when this does it for 35 bucks and change. You can have your bragging rites, I'm not one filing bankruptcy either. :-)This is an economical way to get a great feature for your modern truck.

Easy install and works great. 2 brackets to install using bolts already on the truck. 5-10 minute job.

Very high quality materials, manufacturing, fit & finish. Easy to install, brackets were spot on perfect for my 2019 GMC Sierra. Took maybe 10 minutes to install -- remove and reinstall 3 bolts then snap into place. Works very well and does not hinder putting your tailgate back up.

It was easy to install, it seems VERY slow opening but that’s probably because it’s very cold outside. There is no more slamming if the tailgate slips out of my hand which is worth the slow opening alone

Rhis works just as intented. Nice slow drop tailgate, but there are a couple of things I disliked.The first thing is the tailgate cable has a slight interference with the cylinder. It will rub the pant through over time. It also doesnt pull cable tight when the gate is down. The brackets throw off the alignment of cable just enough .The second issue is the cylinder is loud when it is warm out. You can hear it dampening the gate and it is annoying. Annoying enought to remove it entirely

This will not fit a 2019 GMC 1500 Sierra Limited.It’s a great product and the seller was fantastic but you need to make sure this is the correct one for you.
