Can the readers be configured to using a smartphone with a “tap” or utilizing hid global’s patented “twist and go” gesture technology?

These readers have been around for a while and to my knowledge, are not Bluetooth capable. We only use them with HID's chip cards and key fobs.

Does the reader include the MDP-00870 bluetooth module? is inside the reader and is used for virtual credentials on the phone

This is only for HID cards and key fobs that use HID's chip. No bluetooth capability. You may have to get a newer style reader that specifically lists the use of bluetooth technology.
