She touched on a topic that has been covered by other authors, but not in a simple and concise way that most people unfamiliar with these potent psychotropic drugs would understand. The major take-away from her research and her supportive documentation is the following:There is zero scientific evidence to prove that chemical imbalances in the brain exist and have any affect on the mood or emotional state of an individual. On the other hand, the drugs given to supposedly "fix" this nonexistent imbalance do produce side effects that change the mood and/or emotional state of an individual taking these drugs.And, here's the "killer," literally:All of the past 31 mass shootings were perpetrated by adolescent males, and in at least 17 of them, the shooters were on one or more psychotropic drugs of the SSRI or SNRI variety, including Prozac, Effexor, Luvox, Elavil, and others OR were coming off of them that were prescribed for depression or bipolar disorder.It is more than hiughly likely that all 31 mass shootings involved drugged shooters, but the investigating agencies refuse to release the results of tox screens - like in the case of Adam Lanza where the state of Connecticut is fighting tooth and nail to cover this information up.O'Meara's work has direct implications for the anti-gun movement who want to confiscate the guns oif all adult, law-abiding citizens because they, personally, do not like guns, and not because they are killing kids. Last year, four times more children were killed by drunk drivers than were killed by guns. Ten times more children were killed by backyard pools than by guns. By the antio-gun logic, pools and cars should be confiscated. Or maybe outlaw booze. That worked out well in the 1920's - it produced organized crime.I highly recommend that every American read this book and enlightyen themselves on an epidemic worse than any chidhood disease: the phony selling of mental illness by Big Pharma, the FDA, and our Government in Washington who want gun control.

Omeara has gathered a fabulous body of evidence that would definitely convict the pseudo-science of psychiatry. Her style is incisive, and her research is impressive. Her expose of the American Psychiatric Association, the FDA, the pharmaceutical companies, and psychiatry in general delivers a stake in the heart to this corrupt trio that has been manipulating the public and preying on their vulnerabilities. Unfortunately, The FDA has become lapdog for the pharmaceutical companies instead of a watchdog, since the passing of the PDUFA Act that has enabled them to receive money ($500,000 worth per drug) from the pharmaceutical companies to have the medication rapidly approved. They are in cahoots with these global corporations and the APA, in a concerted effort to pathologize everyone, medicalize behavior, and sell a $3.00 pill for a consumeristic society seeking immediate gratification and looking for a fast fix. The American Psychiatric Association has created a bogus consensual manual, the DSM that promotes alleged mental illnesses, which fit the armament of medications available on the market. Many of the consultants and designers of this manual are on the payroll of the pharmaceutical companies (according to a recent and elaborate study in the journal of psychotherapy and pychosomatics). This fraud has engendered billions of dollars in profits for the corporations involved as well as for the APA and the field of psychiatry.From personal experience, I know that the senate and congress will never take any action against these culprits that have caused thousands of death as a result of their pseudo-diagnosis and their pseudo-treatment with deadly medications, due to the continuous large contributions provided by these organizations toward their political campaigns.The practice of psychiatry is truly shameful! These alleged doctors have forgotten their oath "to do no harm" to their patients and replaced it with fancy cars and big mansions.This book will provide the reader with an electrifying reading, and hopefully will mobilize the public to take action and to write letters to their congressmen and senators to curtail the prevalent corruption of the APA and the pharmaceutical companies.

A good book on the dangers of psychotropic drug use on mental patients. Especially the use of antidepressants. A good book about the abuse and danger of ritulin and adderall used on children.

This plainly-written, simple-to-read book lays out incontrovertible, fact-after-fact, in-your-face, commonsense proof that bio-psychiatry is based on fraud and pseudoscience! If I had only read this little book beforehand, I would never have been tricked into taking any SSRIs, neuroleptics, benzos or similar "medications" in my life!

I never bought this. This was when I was homeless and I was staying with some folks and they ripped me off.

Excellent book that gives the low down on drugs for depression, mental illness, ADHD. If you are thinking of taking any of these drugs, or are considering it for your children, you owe it to yourself to read this book first.

If you've not read much on Big Pharma this book will get your attention. I've read it twice now and it's still an attention grabber.
