Very disappointed with these headers and here is why:
Very disappointed with these headers. I wanted to give my 2.2L a slight performance increase to help with towing a small boat. My problems with this header are:1) The header and pipes are painted with cheap, non-high temperature paint. There is even a decal on one of the primaries stating that the paint on it is not high-temperature. So it will burn off readily after some light use. I went through the trouble of stripping this paint, and applying some vht flame-proof primer and flat black paint. You have to sand/strip/blast off the old paint because you cannot use cheap paint as a substrate for high temperature paint.2) The angle of the air injection tube was wrong, and would not allow me to install the air pump check valve that is supposed to thread on to it. The way it was, the air injection check valve would've been right where the oil fill tube bracket is. I would've had to seriously notch the bracket (remove 1" of material) and remove the rear engine hoist bracket on the cylinder head. Instead, I realized the thread for the air injection check valve was 1/2 NPT, so I went to a local hardware store and picked up a galvanized 1/2 NPT 45 degree street elbow to clear the oil tube bracket and engine lifting bracket.3) The two other exhaust pipes slip into each other. The flare was too large on the one and caused an exhaust leak. I clocked the exhaust clamp in several different positions, but the flare was too oversized and would not seal no matter what. By the way, the included exhaust clamp is a super cheap one, with a 5/16 bolt shank. Every exhaust clamp you buy at the auto parts store is a 3/8" bolt shank. I installed a better quality 3/8 shank clamp, but even with the clamp crushing the pipes together, it still leaked. I ended up welding this connection.4) The bung that the oxygen sensor goes into is unbelievably cheap. I expect it to strip out or completely break away from the header collector the next time I change the oxygen sensor. I applied a very generous amount of anti-seize compound to the threads. If I were to do this header install again, I would definitely buy a oxygen sensor bung (M18x1.5 threads) on ebay and weld it in place.5) Performance? Well I definitely feel absolutely no increase, but it is too early to make that call. I need to do some more test driving before I can reach a verdict on that.6) The bolts were too short for connection the header ball flange to the downpipe. Pacesetter includes 3/8 by 3.5" long bolts. I ended up getting two stainless steel m10-1.5 by 110mm long bolts. You could also pick up 3/8-4" long bolts at your local hardware store too.7) The primary tube coming off of cylinder #1 runs very close to the lower radiator hose - about 1/2" away. I definitely plan on fabricating a small aluminum heat shield to go in between the radiator hose and header.Bottom line, would I buy them again for another 2.2L S10? No. I bought this on Amazon for about $180, and even at that price, its a waste of money. If you are serious about getting a little more power out of your s10, consider swapping to a 4.3L V6, traditional small block Chevy, or even better yet, a LS motor (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L etc).

here a felpro or victor is fine. Others have complained of the clamp
as others have said, AIR tube is at the wrong angle. also the flange bolts are too short that come in the kit. I found the manifold warped during the welding process. This is about the only CARB legal header out there, Dorman replacement manifold is same/more money, and will crack in 2 years. Hence the header now. Before you install this part. Test fit the flange and buy the proper length bolts, Heat and bend the AIR tube to match the angle of the old stock manifold, Take the header to a machine shop and have it resurfaced so it's flat, and get a stock manifold gasket for a non-AIR engine, genuine dealer part, not a cheap aftermarket. The gasket supplied in the kit will work, but will blow out and leak after a while. Don't use the cat. gasket either, here a felpro or victor is fine. Others have complained of the clamp, I had no issues here, but a band type is better= 2 1/4 with step.Clean off the new paint if you want paint on it, what it comes with will burn off right away, for whatever reason they squirted regular paint on it, I assume to keep it from rusting sitting on a boat from china.

Great, but a pain in the ass to install...
Let me start from the beginning. It arrived on time with everything you need included. Machining of the headers is somewhat sub-par, but it works. Dis-assembly of the old manifold was a breeze. Swap out of the air valve and O2 sensor was painless. Install to the cylinder head was no problem. Then comes the hard part.... Flange was a total nightmare to assemble. The bolts were too short, so I cut the flange springs in half to compensate. It's almost impossible to assemble the headers-to-flange by yourself. Alot easier with an extra set of hands. Get one bolt started before you attempt the second one. Flange-to-converter was fine. The headers do let the engine breathe alot better than the old manifold and pipe. Lots more low RPM power and it's a bit quieter and sounds GREAT!!! Overall 4 out of 5 for the hassle of install and quality. ***Also had to move AIR Valve with 90 degree pipe to clear oil fill tube******* Update***** Had to replace exhaust gasket with new one. The gasket provided literally fell apart 3 months after install.....****Update***** Collector where pipes come together rusted out after 2 years. To the scrap yard it goes...

One of the few CARB Exempt Exhaust Header Available
Pros:CARB ExemptAir InjectionCons:Ball and Socket design almost assures exhaust leaksMediocre welds/constructionNearly impossible to assemble flangeCheap paper gasketI installed this header myself but was not pleased with how the original ball and socket junction coming off the collector to the down pipe was situated. Ended up modifying it to have a traditional flange and gasket junction which resulted in zero exhaust leaks, better clearance, and a more reliable installation. The vehicle passed SMOG and visual inspection without issues.

Three Stars
Be careful of your hydraulic clutch line if u have a manual transmission.

PaceSetter 70-1200 Black Exhaust Header
my mechanic says this had to be the best fitting part he has ever put on a vehicle! it was quiet when he first put it on now i don't know if he tightened correctly but it seems to be louder, i will have to check, but it's definitely worth the money and quality! i give it 5 stars!

Great!
This product fit amazingly I think it fit better than the stack manifold. I see a lot of performance from this header. Especially off the launch and at mid rpms. Awesome I think every s10 should have one
