Weathermatic S20P light duty solenoid

I have been using a Rachio controller for about 8 years now. It reported a wiring error on one of my zones after it was on for about 10 minutes. None of our original 26 year old solenoids (Weathermatic M24E) had ever had an issue until now so I did not initially even think of the solenoid being an issue. After some research, I checked the solenoids resistance at the controller and it showed 6 ohms. All the others were showing around 32 ohms. I ordered this and it was a perfect replacement and is now working perfectly. It was extremely easy to swap out the old one. I screwed out the old and screwed in the new making sure not to overtighten as others have said. As an aside I was very impressed Rachio detected the very low resistance of the old solenoid and turned off the zone and reported a problem.

One of my zones on my sprinkler system failed and after testing several issues it turned out to be the solenoid switch. This replacement was exactly what I needed and easy to install. Just make sure you cover the spring with your finger, or it might jump off. I purchased two in all just to have a spare.

This solenoid is slightly different that the original S20P (it does not say S20P on the part). As others have noted, I could not tighten it properly into my sprinkler valve as it would "skip", almost like there was not enough thread. I ended up taking of the little rubber gasket that's on the thread to allow for more thread to be available and have used some thread tape instead. This way I was able to actually tighten it enough and it's not leaking, so I think I'm good. Other than that, it works. Hope this helps.

This is exactly what I needed, make sure you check part numbers. Got my lawn sprinkler system back up and running in no time. It’s lasted a whole season so far, don’t see me having a problem with it

Fit easily and resolved an issue with a faulty master valve. People complain about the cost but I was a hail Mary away from having to dig up and replace the entire master valve; this took about a minute to install so it was worth it.

After 20 years plus, the original solenoid went out in one of my sprinkler zones. The valve was a WeatherMatic... I had to remove considerable dirt that had washed into the valve box to access the old solenoid and the !?#$:%# guys that had installed it had only left about 2 inches of control wire to connect to; hence, I had to install ~8" of extension wire to the original underground control wires (including the ground wire), then, while on my hands & knees at well above 65 yrs young, I removed the bad solenoid, wired in the new one and it has been working great in the 105 to 108 degree weather we've been having... wish I could say the same for me! The solenoid is performing as advertised tho!
