Scar (Asphalt Gods' MC #1) by Morgan Jane Mitchell) is a fast paced gritty, thrilling violent story with plenty of steamy moments throughout. Scar, who is under a new identity is a an enforcer for of the Asphalt Gods MC who is this larger than life badass biker who is on a mission as a Nomad Assassin for hire if he succeeds, more than one club may by after him.When he encounters Emery as his bar, his is immediately drawn to her but he can tell something isn't right, could she be with law enforcement, is she working for another club to take him down? When Emery sees this sexy tattooed, pierced, six foot two sexy man with a body to kill for she starts to make a play for him, but puts him on hold when she runs into the bathroom. When he finds her in the bathroom bleeding out as she has cut her wrists, he takes her home with him and tends to her wound needing answers from her when she wakes up. But Emery turns the tables on Scar when she goes through his belongings and learns what he does and who he really is. Now the the chemistry between them is raw, dirty and violent, as she tells him that she left a cheating husband and will pay him $50k to kill her as she doesn't want to live. Scar needs that money to get back someone he loves that was taken, agrees to off her but he has his own demands. Emery will fulfill Scar's needs when he wants her and how he wants her. Once these two come together, they begin a sensual, explosive exchange that leaves both of wanting more as Scar finds he is hesitant to kill her. This story was full of action, violence , lies and betrayals. When lies are exposed, enemies are headed towards them and Emery makes a confession. Scar will have you on edge with a cliffhanger that will take you on one hell of a ride which will have you rushing to read book 2.

Ok so I had a really hard time eating this one because first, I don’t like Scar. He has no morals and is sickening. I really thought Emery would change him maybe or he’d actually be better but nope. He did disgust me screwing someone he considers his mom?!?! Yuck on so many levels.The good thing is this book is filled with drama & action. I am very interested to see how the other books follow up. This is the first book from this author that would be less than a 5 star for me.

I have read a half dozen or so MC books, so I am by no means an expert. I read the blurb and that pulled me in instantly. I love a good darker-themed book, however, this one just didn't do it for me.Scar is the definitive anti-hero but is likable. Emery is a mystery, other than knowing she wants to be dead. You keep getting hints throughout the book that, frankly, just adds more mystery to her. Scar's history is also revealed, however, his actually added a depth to his character that made you want to keep rooting for his endeavor.This is a darker story so, of course, the language will be courser. The sex will be plentiful, and situations will be more intense. The story kept its pace throughout. I knew I was getting close to the end just by the page number so I was not surprised when I got to 'the end'.Cliffhangers... why - just why?! I was so sucked in by the blurb that I didn't do my normal review check so I did not realize it had a cliffhanger until I hit the end.So the cliffhanger is: Emery is unconscious and is put back onto Scar's bike.Yes, I am being vague because I hate giving away things in reviews. There are crumbs that are present to make you want to continue to the next book, but, I'll pass.

Scar and Emery take dark, gritty and what did i just read to another atmosphere.Scar is a rough man and very hard to like imo. Emery has a wish and it's one that kinda scares the reader.Get ready to take a ride on a crazy, twisted and shock filled rollercoaster where you are in the front seat with a loose seatbelt. Yes, it's like that!! I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

I gave this new series book one a 3.5 star rating. Interesting and different kind of book, not your usual MC read. It had a really cool blurb and started off with a bang, but then the action was so crazy wild and too many things started happening that didn't make sense to me, so I got a little confused.The sex seemed a bit gratuitous at times and was all over the place (not really sensual or exciting, just graphic and detailed) and by the time we are treated to multiple killings, a mysterious woman who wants to be killed but ends up killing others, several double-crosses and some more sex for shock scenes..it was sensory overload for me.Now the story twists themselves were creative and by the time Scar actually dons his biker leathers and cut and takes off back into his "real life" instead of his undercover job as bar owner, things started to get really interesting, albeit more confusing. I didn't know who to trust or who the good/bad guys were, but it ends on a big cliffhanger and I'm hoping the next book will answer the questions as we were left wondering even more at the end of this one...less answered and more confusion. Who is Emery really and what will happen to her and Scar's relationship?**** 3.5 **** "do you really want to die?" stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. From beginning to end I was hooked on it and could not put it down. It moves along at a pace which is perfect for the flow of the story. It has interesting and unique characters that you want to know more about and by the end of the book you are loving. This book will grab you and keep you reading until the end and then you need more. It needs to be read, no doubt about it.

This is just the kind of MC drama I like to read. I’m pretty sure I read it before but couldn’t find it in any of my reading apps. So I bought it again.

This is the first story in a series which I'm sure is going to be awesome. It ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait for more

A first from this author for me and I just could kit put it down. It's not like most MC books that I have read but it does not disappoint. Made me click on the rest of series straight away

Had everything you would want in a biker story. It was fast paced and gritty, wish there had been more. Was really getting into it then it ended.

Gritty read and very much enjoyed. Well written with good characters and storyline. Looking forward to more in book 2.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
