Pretty decent book
Pretty decent book. I waited sooooooooo long to get my hands on this book !!! and I HAD TO BUY IT ; just to read it (that says alot !!!!! the libraries were I live really need to do better). The book summary was very vague the first chapter of the book started off as good and kept my attention (like I expect most of the books I like to do) I expected this book to be as good as Dime Piece or Twisted but it was medicore compared to those books. Overall, this book would have been a pretty decent LMN movie. At first I liked Kia and Aaron's relationship I wish it was not cut short like it was. Characters should have been more developed (i,e Giselle, her father, and Smphany) I really liked reading the book I just wanted more. . . The book was good though Aaron pissed me off because he jeopardized he and Kia's relationship by the murder and believing Giselle shiety ass !!! (women like her are the reason I don't have friends). Aaron just wanted someone to blame for his misfortunes and I think that is why he was so hard on Kia it was like he was still that 18 year old boy that had got arrested nothing really seemed to change about him but his looks. I really think Kia could have done better HELL she spent half her life waiting for him to get out of jail and he still chose to wait to marry her like dude are you serious?!?!?! I'm sorry my ass would have been gone. I really did not like his character !!! even behind bars he made me mad !!!! I just feel the characters I liked should had their own chapter. This book was not what I expect but it was good :-)

AMAZING!!!
This book is an absolute page turner! I love the way it touched on real life situations like teen pregnancy, drug dealing, hard upbringings, the value of real friendships, betrayal and so much more! The author really did her thing with this one! Wish there was a movie for it!

Life Lessons Are Often Learned Too Late
Tracy Browns novel Black is an excellent read of learning life lessons and moving on.The plot of friends that were so different yet so alike in this novel will capture you and keep you wanting to read to the very end. It is a tale of love, life, and friendship.Symphony, a young black female whose mother was raising two kids on her own and thought as long as she gave them everything she could in materialistic form that she could believed that she was doing the right thing by her children. She believed that this is what made her a good parent. However, Symphony didn't see it that way. Moving out at a very young age she found herself in a life of drugs and money.Kaia, a girl whom after her father was killed felt that she was facing the world by herself, finds not only love by family. She has to deal with one drama filled issue after another to find that all she really needed was to love herself. She had to learn the lesson that you can't make anyone love you and just because they don't tell you don't mean that don't.These girls go through one situation after another holding each other's hand through life. Teaching one another what true love and family is really made of. Their plights were so different and they were each others strength to make it through. And as time would have it one of them expired before the other was ready to let go.Ms Brown did a wonderful job with her characters. Toward the end of this well written sad story life seems to come together for one of the young ladies after dealing with the death of another. Black is not only a fast read but also it will make you think and will touch you with the sadness. Pick up Black and you won't be able to put it down. Even thought the beginning was a little slow it picked up and took you on an emotional rollercoaster. I would recommend this book to young girls dealing with relationship issues.Stacy D CampbellAuthor of Secrets[...]

Just Could'nt Put It Down!!
I promise once I started reading this book I couldnt stop!!I read white lines and that book was beyond fantastic so I knew I had to go back and purchase another book by her and this one was great to. It was awful the way Kaia's family treated her for no reason, especially her own mother. i just dont understand how someone could be so cruel to their own flesh and blood thats exactly why she was so lonely and miserable. But I was also happy that she met a nice and caring guy like Aaron, that boy loved her to death and i was so dissappointed when she betrayed him, that was real stupid of her anyway common sense would have told her to leave that situation along cause i believe if it wasnt for Giselle it would have gotten back to him some other way. But home girl was wrong though and had that beatdown coming to her!!Im glad every thing worked out in the end and felt bad for what happened to Symphany she was a true friend!

This was a very good read. It was a very emotional read
This was a very good read. It was a very emotional read. The characters and situations were believable. I loved Kaia, Symphany, and, Talia and the friendship they shared. Aaron and Keith are real men and their relationship was admirable. Aaron and Kaia had a beautiful love until he took a fall. At first I was angry at Kaia for her actions, but after understanding her painful life, my heart went out to her. Family and friends can sometimes hurt your heart worse than a stranger in the streets. Giselle was the worst kind of friend and she paid for it. It was so sad with the passing of a friend. Janice was just a bitter, hateful, evil person and she would probably stay that way to the grave.I liked the ending. Definitely recommended.

I love the book and the lesson in it!
I loved the book, it taught me to let things go that I can't control, it taught me that you have to move on with life no matter who or what hurt you or what continues to hurt you! Thank You Tracy!

Awesome
It took a while for me to get this book but it was definitely worth the wait. The story is very emotional yet inspirational. It demonstrates the importance of friendship and how friends become family. What's also great is the way Tracy uses the metaphor of a buttefly to tell the story of the main character, as well as the inclusion of poetry. Definitely a great read.

The black sheep shines
I enjoy Tracy Brown novels. The story time takes place in the 90s and describes a young lady who is considered the Black Sheep of her abusive family. Her story is about love found, lost and regain. There is also friendship gain and lost. I thought for very young characters they shared a lot of wisdom and most spoke more mature then their young ages. Nonetheless, this observation of mine did not impact the story negatively. The story was told well and Ms. Brown did not disappoint.
