The best fighter jet aircraft ever made!!!
I had this model as a kid, ended up throwing the model away and now at the age 30 I bought it again. This is my favorite aircraft of all time. The F-22 Raptor is hands down one of the most beautiful piece of machinery I have ever seen. This model kit was great putting together. Wanted to experiment with different color schemes, was going for a darker scheme with camouflage patterns which can barely be seen in the photos but I like it. I’ll be looking into getting a model stand for this jet and I’ll place the AIM-12? Missiles underneath like I showed in the photos. The graphics are always a pain when trying to apply them to models so I did two AIM-12 missiles and gave up. The AIM-9 missiles have their graphics on which is all that matters to me. If Lockheed Martin is looking for a color scheme designer for their F-22s, give me a call. I’m sure you can track me down through Amazon. Lastly, I added the touch to exhaust to represent the afterburners of the aircraft. Really love and enjoyed this model kit. Brought many childhood memories back.

It's the model plane I've been looking for
It's outstanding I've been into model planes for years. You all at Amazon have the best model planes.

Overall great with a few fitment problems
I bought this model to put on my desk at work, and the model is great overall. It really captures the sleek looks the F-22 has. It does it so well that my coworkers won't leave the stupid model alone! Adding to that, 1/48th scale is pretty substantial without being too big. I did have some problems building it though (both kits I ordered). My main gripe with this kit is that all the doors and hatches fit rather poorly. It's not an issue if you plan to build it with the gear down and the weapon bays open. However, if you want to build it with everything closed so you can put it on a stand or hang it from the ceiling, you'll need some filler puddy for the nose gear door and you might as well make your own weapon bay doors from sheet styrene. Test fit everything and don't trust the numbers in the directions. They don't always correspond to the right pieces for the side you're working on. There's also an issue with the top of the plane. The top surface is actually two pieces, one forward and one aft. The seam doesn't mesh very well so you may have to do some blending (I used a very thin layer of filler and then carved the detail lines back in with an xacto knife). So do I recommend it? Not really, no. The kit looks great when it's done, but it's a real pain to build because of all the poorly fitting parts. And most of us buy model kits for the fun in building them. If you're not afraid of fixing these problems then go for it. But, if you can find another 1/48th scale kit, I'd recommend you try that one first.Quick tip: If you plan to put it on a stand, I'd recommend getting some neodymium magnets and fixing a couple inside the plane before you put it together. Then put some more magnets on the base and you've got a pretty strong bond without marking up you brand new model

Unfortunately the only 1/48 available...
It's unfortunate that this is the only 1/48 Raptor out there (the Revell one seems to use the same mould) because it is pretty sub-par in today's market. Detail is very sparse, the fit is pretty lousy, and the painting guide is just terrible. It's nice to have a Raptor in this scale, but as for the kit itself, I hope we see a better one soon.

Nice model for the price.
11yo loves this. He didn't use any paint, just put it together and it's now on display.
