My 3 month old loves this book!
I got this book for our 2 month old, now 3 months old, and he loves it! The illustrations are of real people (not all animals like some other Mother Goose books) and totally captivating. I wasn't sure the baby would even be into this but I am so pleased at how much he enjoys it. His favorite is Baa Baa Black Sheep, and he actually smiles and now laughs. We read this book at least once a day. Total hit!!

Pleasant baby shower gift. Better illustrations than most of its kind.

Some wording too adults for kids
Honestly I have to say that reading through these nursery rhymes I am surprised as to the connotation of some of them. These are nursery rhymes that I grew up with but really never paid much attention to the words until now with my 18 month old grandson and we have decided not to keep this book especially since he is so fascinated with books and it's the first thing that he goes to whenever I'm with him. Some of the wording is just too suggestive for me.

Basics missing
disappointed. For a First book I expected to have more of the most known. I was disappointed that Jack and Jill, and Jack be Nimble were missing. Furthermore, I was shocked to find Tweedledum and Tweedledee, A Diller a Dollar, and Pussy cat, Pussy cat. Book quality is good and pictures are appealing to a child. If you are looking for a book containing. Humpty Dumpty, There was and Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, Georgie Porgie, Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat, Baa, Baaa, Black Sheep, Little Boy Blue, Rub-a-Dub-Dub, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, A Diller, a Dollar, Little Miss Muffet, Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater, Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling, you will be happy.

Good book for toddlers
The board pages are excellent for toddlers who often tear pages appart. This pages are hard enough for avoiding that. The book has also nice pictures. As a "My first..." this book might be a little short for people that is looking for more Mother Goose's stories, but it's a good start.

Every Child Needs Nursery Rhymes!
We own many copies of Tomie dePaola's Mother Goose but this is the best. It is great for little hands. The pages are sturdy and contain the wonderful illustrations that made the big book famous.
