Momento

Music can transport, intoxicate, induce dreams and inspire delicious fantasies, ripe for enacting. Bebel Gilberto achieves this and more with the release of her third effort, "Momento".The sensual, slow burn of her vocals and rythym allow the listener to get carried away to another place, a place where time stands still, begging one to abandon all earthly cares in favor of romantic splendor. "Momento", the opening track and CD title, peaks into Gilberto's world, with a poetic recount of pieces of her personal puzzle. "Bring Back the Love" includes a hushed moan in the background, with a steady beat and almost chant like command...."Close to You" is about as sensual as anything you are apt to hear these days. It absolutely implores the listener to drop the material concerns to beckon one's lover..... sexy and sensual indeed.Gilbeto's take on the standard " Night and Day" breathes new life into a romantic classic. She whispers through the urgency of this song with an understated passion, leading one to believe that the object of affection will receive the boil over of her desire. Such delivery is what illustrates a mood, making for true "mood" music.The remaining tunes are at turns festive, contemplative and always engaging. Give way to the temptation; Bebel Gilberto offers a sublime summer album that is guarenteed to satisfy.

It's a good album and there are some very beautiful pieces of music on here. 'Azul' , 'Cade Voce', 'Night and Day' , and 'Close To You' are the standouts and those songs alone make this album worth the price of admission. They are undeniably gorgeous songs and it'd be hard for anyone to find fault in those songs. Unfortunately, the rest of the tracks are not as awe-inspiring as the above mentioned songs and even though music is obviously subjective, I think most people will agree that there are more "skippable" songs than we'd like on a Bebel Gilberto album. Overall, this album is very solid compared to alot of what's out there, it's just that, like all good artists, we hold Bebel to a higher standard (such is the bane of all good artists).

I discovered Bebel's music at the coffee shop I run and was completely enchanted. My favorite memory of her previous CD, "Bebel Gilberto" was listening to it while swinging in a hammock on hot summer evenings. So I've been looking forward to this for awhile. At first listen, it's certainly different but keeps the same, slow and sensual vibe of her other albums. We listened to it twice last night and it grows on you right away. Now it's settled into that, "oh wow, I keep hearing different things every time I listen to it" kind of phase. I wonderful artist, suble electronica, lush bossa nova and great vocals.

Love this! It was fresh and breezy, perfect cooking music, and really nice to have playing during dinner(outside is best). Can't imagine why it wouldn't be great at a cocktail party.

Bebel Gilberto's new release is not her best...BUT....it is sure to please all her fans. "Bring Back the Love" has the chance of making a lot of air play while songs like the standard "Night and Day" and "Azul" are great chill out songs to relax with.

Wonderful vocals, good production - extremely lush and pleasing, and with a little more longevity in terms of how often I want to play it than expected. Hi-fi note: just a little compression on the sound but it's not too tiring. The song Cacada is a firm favourite for me, that track's actually quite funky with prominent drumming and catchy - even if I've no comprehension of what she's singing (in Portugese, presumably) - singing.

Great album from a great asrtist. I recommend it and I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Exxcellent quality and delivery time

Une fois de plus, BG nous livre un très bon album dans lequel tout amateur éclairé du Brésil, pays si fascinant et si chaleureux, retrouvera le don si particulier de la musique accordé aux brésiliens. Je laisse aux uns et aux autres définir si ce troisième opus est supérieur aux deux autres ou un peu en retrait. Quoi qu'il en soit, il ne mérite pas le commentaire précédent très caricatural et pour le moins surprenant de la part de quelqu'un qui a su, apparemment, percevoir le charme des deux premiers essais de l'artiste.Valeo.

Met all expectations

Ein neues, schönes Album von Bebel Gilberto. Nach einem elektronisch clubtauglichen "Tanto tempo" und einem wunderschönen, vor allem hervorragend produzierten "Bebel Gilberto" und zwei Remix-Alben ein eher zurückhaltenderes Album, das mehr von ihren Wurzeln zeigt und viele Gefühle hervorbringt.Der Opener "Momento" ist gleich mein Höhepunkt des Albums, knüpft an das letzte Album an und bringt elektronisch verspielt mit viel Melodie einen wundervollen Song."Bring back the love" wird dann tanztauglicher, von und mit den Brazilian girls."Close to you" ist eher wieder zurückhaltend, ein ganz ruhiger Song, ein tolles Cello am Ende, sehr gefühlvoll, leider zu kurz."Os novos yorkinos" ist ein sehr uplifting track, bewirkt Sommergefühle. "Azul", sehr verträumt, einfach klasse. So mag ich Bebel, verträumt und mit viel Gänsehaut. Wieder ein Song, der viel zu kurz geraten ist."Cacada" kommt dann mit vielen Trommeln sehr südamerikanisch, sehr fröhlich und beschwingend."Night and day", ein Cole Porter-Cover, ist sehr jazzig, Bossa Nova angehaucht umgesetzt.Dann hätten wir "Tranquilo", gefällt mir nicht so, Geschmackssache."Un segundo", sehr netter, eher akustischer Bossa Nova Song, uplifting, toller Abschluss.Mit "Cade voce" kommt wieder ein Highlight, das mich an das Top-Album "Bebel Gilberto" erinnert, super produziert und ein toller Mitsing-Refrain.Mit dem letzten Song "Words" wirds dann nochmal sehr ruhig, Chillout am Ende eines tollen Albums, Bebel wird nur von einer akustischen Gitarre begleitet.Insgesamt ein tolles Album mit etwas Bossa Nova, südamerikanischen Rhythmen und Pop.Wenn auch einige Stücke sehr kurz sind, nach 3 Minuten sind viele Highlights wieder vorbei, ist dies ein tolles Album geworden.Die elektronischen Spielereien wurden zurückgesetzt, ab und an etwas schade, es wurden dafür aber viele Gefühle umgesetzt, man hört ihre ursprünglichen Wurzeln sehr stark heraus.Für mich nicht mehr so gut wie "Bebel Gilberto", das war einfach ein perfektes Album, aber trotzdem viel besser als der ganze Mainstream-Kram, den es sonst so zu hören gibt.Ihre weiche Stimme, die schönen Melodien und die tollen Instrumente, die eingesetzt wurden, das ist einfach unvergleichlich. Die besten Songs für mich wurden von Guy Sigsworth produziert, der schon für Madonna arbeitete und produzierte.Ein schönes Frühlings- und Sommeralbum. Danke, Bebel.
