Not as good as just a tube
Gravel gets sucked up and trapped in the squisher thing.

Quick Start, Nice Features
I purchased two of these. One of them was damaged on arrival and I did a quick and easy refund with Amazon. The other one, I was not pleased with because I couldn't figure out how to attach the long nozzle onto the base. Turns out I had failed to unscrew a short nozzle from the base, as the instructions clearly indicated. Now I have attached the longer nozzle and I am able to agitate the gravel slightly instead of just hovering over it. Suction starts with just two or three quick squeezes of the bulb. I wish the hose was about 6 inches longer. I love the clip that keeps the bulb end attached securely to my waste water bucket. There is a suction cup for the nozzle end but I don't use it because I am actively gravel vacuuming.Pleased with the price, pleased with the features and pleased with the easy return policy. Will buy again.

The best out there!
This gravel vacuum is the best out there in my opinion. I got this for my 10 gallon mystery snail tank. They produce alot of waste and needed something that would be small enough to fit for a 10 gallon, but strong enough to get all the waste at the bottom. This was perfect. It has a fish gaurd and I cut a piece of pre filter sponge to put inside the guard..(I have baby snails that are the size of a pinhead ). It worked perfectly. It didnt get clogged, and I was able to safely remove all the waste without sucking any babies up. The suction power is strong and was able to control the flow easily. This works so well that I will be definitely ordering another one for my 55 gallon tank! It was much easier to use than the one I already have.

The second one works better
The first time I used it I found I had to keep pumping the ball to get the suction strong enough to clean the gravel. The second time I used it, it broke. It wasn't able to sustain suction then I couldn't get it primed again. If it was just being used to take water out then its ok, but if you are hoping to have it suck up waste from the gravel maybe try something else. I'm going to return it and try again to see if I just got a bad one.Update- The replacement has not broken and feels stronger than the first. I am still having trouble with is as a gravel cleaner when I attach the larger/longer end. The water flow gets weaker and I have to pump to keep the water coming out. I leave on the shorter attachment to try to clean the gravel a bit. It is also large which can be a bit difficult to clean around plants and in corners. Overall, its great for water changes, the hand pump to get it primed is super helpful. As a gravel cleaner, its not working out as well so I got a smaller siphon for cleaning.

Mostly well thought out
Full disclosure: I received this product as part of a promotion. The product seems well thought out with two different lengths of suction end, but the long one should be longer IMO. Comes with a flow restrictor if you need to slow the suction, a suction cup to hold the suction end in the water, and a clip to keep it on the aquarium while in use. My biggest concern is the material itself, which I imagine will become brittle over time and split or crack.

This Item Does What it Should - No Issues
This aquarium vacuum works just as it should. If the hose kinks on you, remember that the blue clip on the hose can be used to keep the hose from folding over. It can also be used to stop the water flow, which I think might be its originally intended purpose, but I don't imagine that the hose can put up with a whole lot of that in the long-term. Besides, to stop the flow, all you need to do is take the business end of the hose out of the water to break the siphon (i.e. to let some air into the hose).
