Great reusable product for jarring goods.
When I first bought these bands, my concern was that I could smell some sort of machine oil coming from the box. I dumped them into a basin of hot, soapy water and gave them a quick wash. Voila! The odor was gone, and the bands were ready for use.I read some reviews were the fit of the lids were an issue, so I immediately tested all 24 bands (I ordered two lots of 12). Every band worked as designed with no problems. I was able to snug the lids down pretty tight, and none of them showed any sign of failure.I also noted some reports that the bands were hard to turn when putting them on or removing them from a jar. I found them no more or less difficult than the original bands I got in the original supplies from the Mason jar company. My final words are these: when used properly, these bands will provide the savvy canner with years of rust-free use.

Long lasting and durable
I use my mason jars for batch cooking sous vide desserts and not for canning. The jars sit for hours underwater with the lids on, then into the refrigerator and everything goes into the dishwasher once the contents are consumed. The original rings would start to show rust spots after just a few uses, so I replaced them with these black aluminum rings. So far they have been going on two years with no sign of problems. They fit on easily and do not leak. They also allow for expanding air to escape as long as you don't screw them on too tight. Fingertip tight only!I am very satisfied and have not lost a single jar since I started using them.

What a great idea.Stainless steel. I hate having to throw away the old style rusted rings, such a waste and just adds to the land fill. I couldn't find any way of re-purposing them. Any suggestions? I still have some old rusty rings.Update: I received some rings from another company that were not stainless steel although advertised as such , so I tested the Think Chance rings. Test them with a magnet, not the flat, rectangular kind of magnet with an advertisement on it but something larger and thicker like a magnet on your refrigerator with a clip attached to it . If it is real stainless steel, it won't stick on the magnet. I know these from Think Chances really are stainless steel.

Sheerness & Warmth? Rings Work Fine.
These were purchased for gifting jams & jellies where the wife doesn't want to use rusty rings. They are more expensive than steel but will look nicer as long as the rings get reused. They are very tight if putting on cold, but fit nicely after warmed up, so put them in your hot water prior to jarring them & they will fit better.

A reusable band without ugly rust spots!
Tight ring thread tolerances make it difficult to screw on many canning jars. This includes Ball, Kerr and Atlas jars new and old. I can between 50 and 100 cases a year and these bands would continue to look good when reused. Just wish they would go on easily.
