They are not machine washable, but I regularly hand wash mine by wiping them down with a damp/soapy cloth and antibacterial wipes or DIY sanitizing cleanser. They are very sturdy and I absolutely love them.

They're very sturdy. But I don't think they would hold two paper bags. They would more than likely hold three or four plastic bags. But they're not wide enough for two paper bags, but they're very good bags. I recommend them and they come in a set of 3.

Q: How many plastic bags would you say one of these replace? I want to make sure I order enough.

I would say at least three full plastic bags. When I take them for grocery shopping, I don’t take plastic bags. I just put all in the big bag. There is also handles on each end on the outside to help with the weight. There is a strong insert for the bottom to keep the bag flat. Very easy to fold up for storage.

They are all the same size. Large enough to hold a good amount of stuff but not so large as to make it impossible to carry a full load. I have about 10 of these totes. I love them and so do the grocery market baggers!
