I have purchased this 'same' item through Amazon once before - when I needed a strap for my Akubra Sombrero - and at that time I received the genuine article. After daily wearing it recently wore down to the point of breaking - so I reordered the 'same' item. The quality is not even close - and does not even match the photos on the listing - it is clearly a far more cheaply produced version sold at the same price. I would suspect it is not even Australian leather (something that was important to me - as I wanted to keep the 'nationality' of my Akubra intact). Very disappointing to see yet another Amazon bait & switch - Amazon is fast becoming too unreliable to trust when you are looking to purchase something authentic.

I wear a cowboy hat for ranching, meaning it's on my head from about 8-5 most days of the week. I keep it on because it's quite windy here and I don't want my hat blowing off my head. I really liked this chinstrap but recently (after around 1 year) it just started loosening up more and more. It stays tight for a minute or so, but slowly loosens, and falls down. Then my hat blows off. If you don't wear a hat as often as I do this might not be an issue.

Was going to use this as a stampede string for a custom made hat. But, it's basically a leather shoelace with a bead on it.This is not worthy of any hat a respectable hatsman would own. Make your own, instead. You can do better.

These are very nice flexible leather straps to go with my leather barmah hat made in Australia that I love. The straps complete it!

I bought a fairly expensive hat while visiting Australia last year. But I was never comfortable wearing the hat in windy weather, because the hat did not have a chin strap. This chin strap fits the hat perfectly. It's made of genuine leather (so it matches the hat) and has a bead that slides up and down to tighten the strap. I'm really glad to have bought this!

I like this! It’s my second one and both have worked very well. Highly recommended.

Looks good, easy to install, does what it is supposed to do.

This now keeps my felt hat from blowing away in the wind!
