This product works great for reinforcing fragile plants during bonsai
I've been learning how to do bonsai and some of the more delicate trees and plants tend to snap when you put wire on them and one of the things you can do to reinforce them so they don't snap is to wrap them with damp this ribbon. The natural plant fibers actually work really well with the plants, and when they dry they can almost shrink into a reinforcing layer, similar to leather. I found that I had to unfold the ribbon open while it was dry and then make it wet later. It's very fragile when it's wet so I found that it was best to work with lengths of it that were dry and then dampen it along the way so that I could make it a little bit tighter bonded to the plants as I went. After wiring my bonsai's, I use a mister in order to keep the ribbon moist when I go to water things. So far the plants I've used this on have been doing really well. One of my experiments, was to try and revive a poor fuchsia that a neighbor had abandoned. The poor thing was almost dead when I found it and they didn't even keep it in the pot they just dumped it outside so I rescued and hydrated it first but then when I went to replant it I reinforced the tender and partially broken branches with this ribbon and then a little bit of gentle wiring. Fuchsias are incredibly fragile, and liable to snap with the slightest adjustings. This material actually helped prevent me from breaking most of the branches. The only branches I ended up ruining were the ones I didn't use the ribbon on. After the fact the moisture that the ribbon helped hold in place made it so that the plants were covering were able to produce new growths at the various joints which were retaining some extra moisture from the ribbon but also getting reinforcement and a little extra shade. Overall I'm surprised how well the fuchsia is doing.

Definitely not for use with a 3.5mm crochet hook
I purchased this raffia to compare it to the Wool and the Gang (WATG) Ra-Ra Raffia - hoping to find a less expensive raffia. But WATG wins! It’s $22 a roll - whereas this Amazon raffia was $18+ for 2 rolls. The price doesn’t make a difference when the quality of the WATG raffia is far superior to this raffia.Even though it was a tug-of-war with this raffia in making each single crochet with a size 3.5mm crochet hook, the final results is what made that all worthwhile! And with all that tugging and pulling to maintain an even tension throughout my crocheting, this raffia never broke! It is definitely strong and durable!Though, truth be told, I will never use this raffia again to crochet a hat - nor will I recommend it.It’ll probably be good for bags or if your project is done with a larger sized hook. This raffia was a true workout on one’s fingers and hands.I placed 19 lbs of weights on the brim to work the warps out of it - caused by the heat/humidity. This is done before the wire is joined. (See picture with medicine ball). And I’ll do this again after the last round of reverse sc. This is because the raffia is 100% craft paper - and it becomes very malleable in the humidity and heat; and the hat is stored in the laundry room where there is AC - and the raffia stiffens up.And I decided to not finish the last round with a reverse single crochet round. This raffia was not at all cooperative to be manipulated like that. After the hat was finished, I placed 14 lbs of weights on the brim to make sure it will maintain its shape,It’s a beautiful hat, yet I could only work three rounds a day when I got to the brim section of the hat because the strain was too much on my fingers and hands. Normally this pattern would take me 3 days to complete with the WATG raffia, or the Rewind Yarn (not raffia). But with this raffia, it took 9 days to complete this hat.I’m still giving this raffia 5 stars because the end result is a beautiful hat!

Birds & cats both love it
Originally bought this for my bird so that he could chew and build things with it. He likes it, but it turns out my cat does too. A great alternative to string, since it's just paper. Great product!

'natural' raffia paper ribbon 1/4"
Says 'natural raffia' but it feels a little bit ... plasticky? and shiny. It doesn't spread super well - but it'll work. It is a 'natural' color. I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful.

Good for crochet
I bought this raffia ribbon to crochet home goods (a basket and a water bottle holster). East to crochet with and my crafts came out very sturdy. I've bought multiple skeins--it is now my go-to raffia to use.

Nice for a different touch to gift wrapping
I would order this again. I used it all last Xmas. It was fine with regular gift paper and the old fashioned brown Xmas paper both. I used traditional bows for some packages. But I did like this ❤️

What I needed
I bought a straw basket whose handles kinda dried up and fell apart and I was looking for some type of straw like ribbon to fix them. This worked just fine for what I needed. It’s a good product and I’m sure you can use it for many other things.
