Feel good show forhard times. Funny, kind, loving friendships - the perfect show for a tough time
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is my happy place now. It's so unusual - always always funny, but never mean. It's a show with so much kindness and genuine friendship. It makes me feel as happy as Great British Baking Show.It has a lot of the great character development and friendship of Bones, without all the gore and violence that's hard to watch these days. Yes they're NYPD detectives, but it's light on the details. The writers genuinely see them all as human beings, in the fullness and complexity of what that means - they have strengths and flaws and feel real. I appreciate the way gender roles are portrayed - the men are kind and comfortable with emotions (I especially love the Boyle-Peralta interactions), and the women are tough and competent without being cartoons or stock Wonder Woman tropes. It is so refreshing to be able to watch a show without tripping over gender stereotypes - every show should handle it this deftly. The show also touches, in a gentle way, on some tough topics. Racism in policing, when Sgt Terry gets hassled when in plainclothes and has to decide what to do. Prison conditions, when Jake and Rosa are framed. Bisexuality when Rosa's parents aren't supportive at first when she comes out. I appreciate the light touch, as they deal with real issues, without being too fraught - we've all got enough on our plates right now, we need some escape, but also can't just pretend everything is fine. It's a really fine balance and I'm amazed at how well the writers navigate it.Thanks, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, for keeping us sane during a hard time. I mean that very sincerely.

I did NOT think I was going to like this show and I was very, VERY wrong.
Look, if you're sitting there, questioning whether or not to give this show a shot, just go for it. The chances of you disliking it are probably pretty slim—particularly if you enjoyed shows like Parks and Rec., The Office, and Frasier, to name a few.I really didn't think I'd like it at all, which is why it was going into the third season before I even started watching the first. It seemed like it would be some ditzy comedy with really dumb jokes, given what I'd known of Andy Samberg's "humor" beforehand (sorry, but his other stuff just hasn't been up my alley at all). Then, I started seeing funny gifsets/screenshots of OTHER characters (particularly Rosa and Gina) on the show on my social media feeds and decided to give it a shot…and I WASN'T DISAPPOINTED.I've actually even had better luck getting friends into it than I have with any other show I've EVER liked and recommended. One friend was particularly adamant that he was GOING to binge on some other comedy series before even thinking of watching this show, but I told him rather soundly that he should watch this one first (I'm probably lucky he even still speaks to me after that, considering it was a lot of caps along the lines of "JUST LISTEN TO ME AND WATCH THE SHOW"). Next thing I knew, he texted me to inform me that he was going to go ahead and give it a shot to get me off his back. Then, after a few episodes, he admitted to liking it so far. Next thing I know, he then texted me to say that he'd gotten through ALL 3 SEASONS in, like, a week (which is REALLY fast for him). This show has become my overall favorite comedy, which I never would've expected. It also helps that I find it highly amusing how many friends are freaked out by how much I'm like Rosa (and Gina, occasionally…which is quite the fabulously terrifying combo) when they start watching.

Love this Show!
Pretty sure at this point that I'll watch anything that Michael Schur has had anything to do with. The man knows comedy. The Office and Parks and Recreation are two of the funniest shows to ever grace my television screen and when I came across the first season of Brooklyn 99 on sale for 10 bucks only to find that Schur. was a co-creator, I had to try it out. Besides, I'm a long-time fan of Andy Samberg, Joe Lo Truglio and Terry Crews. $10 bucks is nothing to lose for an entire season of a sitcom. And luckily, I was NOT disappointed. It was a bit slow to start, but the characters really fill out and develop over the course of the first season. It's not the obscene, in your face comedy that you'd find on some shows. It's more subtle and dead pan, Schur's usual style. I like any comedy except the super dark variety, so I'm all in. It's actually a pretty witty, comedically sophisticated show, if you can believe it. When I originally found out about the show two years ago, I thought, Andy Samberg playing a detective? Naaaaaah. But surprisingly, it works. I'll definitely be continuing on with the second season. I know the third season is currently headed to a close, so I don't know if I'll wait for its release or buy each episode on iTunes digitally. I do know know this though. I hope the show is nowhere close to being cancelled! It's a fun watch. : )

A favorite private detective show from the ‘70s!
Starring Mike Conners, the detective who got the info he needed by making friends with everybody. In season 2 the beautiful Gail Fisher co -stars, as a policeman’s widow who takes the job of Detective Mannix’s secretary to raise her son. The plots were interesting. The music theme was created by Lalo Shifrin (who did the music theme, original Mission Impossible series, Cool Hand Luke, Enter the Dragon, Planet of the Apes, Rush Hour, Glitter! 👍🏽

This pilot is a good start to an excellent comedy series
This pilot is a good start to an excellent comedy series. To save $1.00 I ordered it in regular resolution instead of HD, and it was noticeably less crisp than the episodes we had watched during the regular airing of the show. In terms of content, I like how the different characters are introduced in the pilot and you get a sense of what they're going to be like. However, I do find later episodes of this show funnier than the pilot. We didn't start watching the first season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine until it was nearly finished and have enjoyed all the ones we've seen so far. Anyway, I'm basically "sold" on this show's silliness and oddball characters. Time to invest in a DVD of the first season - this one seems like a keeper.

TOTALLY MANIC & A JOY
Cult viewing, deservedly so. Raymond Holt, the precinct's new Captain, has a big task on his hands - the detectives all so quirky it surely a miracle criminals are ever caught. In fact arrests are high, largely due to Jake and Amy fiercely competing to be the top scorer. This show is great, crammed with gags both verbal and visual. A talented cast does full justice to sparkling scripts. Most exuberant of all is Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta, hilarious as he never ceases to wind colleagues up. Scenes between him and Andre Braugher as Holt are a particular pleasure, the latter adept at deadpan delivery. (Here is a character of special interest - gay but in no way camp, one who has no doubt overcome much prejudice en route to the top. Will Jake discover he has at last met his match?)Twenty-two episodes. Check out the deleted scenes, they also very funny.Best news of all? There are many more seasons to enjoy.

This is a great crew and a great cast
This is a great crew and a great cast. The first season was excellent and I really like Any Samberg in this role. I usually only watch serious cop shows but I love this comedic take better. Some people compare this show to the office but I find it is funny and more original.

Exzellent!
