Beautiful book for making hand made felt dolls
In "Felt Wee Folk New Adventures", there are so many types of dolls - boys and girls. They are made with a variety of materials including small wooden beads for heads and pipe cleaners for arms, legs, and wings. Felt, however, is the primary material used for these dolls. The author gives detailed instructions on how to photocopy her patterns and create templates (if you plan to make more than one or two of the same dolls.) As I am heavy into crafting, there wasn't anything I needed to purchase before beginning a couple of the doll projects. I have already completed the first two I started and am ready to do some more.I really like that the author has broken some of the instructions down to standards, such as the doll bodies from 1.5 inches up to 4.5 inches. You can make a number of the bodies in preparation for making future dolls and become quickly proficient at the steps that each of the size dolls require. Then you can put your focus on the making of the clothes and accessories that turn each doll into such a cute and unique little being. The subject of the dolls are adorable. The chapters say it all: Blossom Fairies, Dollhouse Family, Harvest Folk, Driftwood Clan (includes a pirate), Woodland Folk, Royal Family, Nativity Scene, Winter Play, Hansel and Gretel, Sherwood Forest (oh so cute), Mary Had a Little Lamb, Nursery Rhymes (so many characters), and finally, Wedding Cake Toppers. Each chapter has more than one character and they are all so very cute.I understand that this is a second edition of a much older book - I have never seen that one so I cannot provide a comparison. All I can say is that each of the projects is cuter than the last, there are plenty of dolls for both boys and girls, and the instructions are excellent. I am sure to be working with this book for years to come and am thrilled to have found such a sweet book to re-invigorate my love of felt doll making.

amazing
The authors have such detailed instructions and a wealth of information. I would highly recommend it. Saw it first in my kindle, but I will buy a hard copy, it’s worth it!

Delightful
I have been curious about this book for a few years, so I finally ordered it. I wanted to combine my needle felting with embroidery and doll making. This book is so inspirational whether you follow the directions exactly or change a few things to make your own creations. The dolls are delightful and the photography is superb! Excellent directions for experienced adults or simpler directions for projects with children. The author's biography made me smile... sisters playing trolls and Barbies and secretly embarrassed because they loved their dolls well into adolescence. Girls on the West Coast playing the same imaginative games as girls back East. In the 1970's as a young women majoring in art a male art professor told me my art was too whimsical and childish. Perfect for what I later decided to do in life...a mother and art teacher to elementary school children . We need more whimsy, innocence, and creativity in this high tech fast paced and sometimes tales of the dark side world. Didn't mean to philosophize on a book review... I'm so glad the art professor the author had as a young woman encouraged her, as her creations are delightful. I decided to order her first book, too!

Wonderful book with clear instructions for making fun dolls.
When I learned that Salley Mavor was putting out a new Felt Wee Folk book (while searching for books on fairy making for a somewhat related project), I ordered a copy. I love the way her dolls look, and as soon as the book arrived my kids were making long lists of the dolls they wanted. The instructions are clear and easy to follow; my nine-year-old is currently working on a baby doll (with a little help). I was nervous about painting faces since I hadn't done that before, but it worked out quite well. Peter Pan is not one of the official dolls in the book, but I used the pattern for Hansel’s hat on page 113 and the pattern for the prince’s clothing on page 89 with very minor adjustments (skipped the tunic belt and added a jagged edge to the trousers). This book is full of wonderful dolls and is very nicely done. Highly recommend!

Worth the wait - it's even better than I expected it to be
Worth the wait - it's even better than I expected it to be! I have the first book and made a bunch of the fairies and little people with acorn hats. This book has instructions for different styles of hair and hats. There is a whole chapter on how to make the bodies in different sizes and stitching the clothes. Then there are project chapters for Blossom Fairies, Dollhouse Family, Harvest Folk, Driftwood Clan, Woodland Fold, Royal Family, Nativity Scene, Winter Play, Hansel and Gretel, Sherwood Forest, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Nursery Rhymes, and Wedding Cake Toppers. There are lots of clothes patterns and many pictures of finished dolls to give you ideas.I made the Driftwood Family and the Harvest Folk from the last book and put then in a shadow box. I'm looking forward to making more 'families.' The little figures and their clothes aren't hard to make and really adorable.

Great book.
I started making clothespin dolls for the Christmas tree when I came across this book on the internet. I was pleased to find Amazon had it. The book is a great source of information and patterns to keep me busy. It should come with a warning label. This hobby is addictive. Love the book.

Easily resolved.
Unfortunately it must have got wet at some point, all the pages were stuck together at the bottom edge. However, a refund was given without question. So it was resolved quickly.
