Wish I stopped.
Warning Spoiler alert. I read 6,7,8 also. Wish I wouldn't have continued.M/O The series goes downhill so fast after this book... Characters are just written out and maybe mentioned in passing... I assume that was because the author just had wayyyy too many to keep track off. BUT, in doing so, it started to feel like I was reading a spin off of the Imp series.Wyatt... I honestly didn't get his character at all.. Ok he was good looking, but he was such a loser. SMH..There are so many storylines going on... Sam seemed to be thrown all these crap "jobs"She started out this likable psycho-socio path... doing sick things, like having Wyatt grill a mouse on a bug zapper to cover up her energy vibes... a hellhound who ate corpses and herself chewing on a finger here and there.... Being a slum lord, friends with werewolves...... all that just seems to end...... I also do not feel the actions /fight scenes improve. details are redundant at best. white energy, shotgun sword (if it shows up at all) repair, scars, spirit self, sand. I was REALLY hoping she was going to do some major devouring despite Gregory.... Sam Martin from book one, would have... This Iblis Sam.... following someones rules... making promises she keeps.... BORRRINGGGGG.

Imp Forsaken (Imp Series Book 5)
I must be honest! The start of the book had me crushed. Sam/Az was nearly destroyed. Her demon powers, her human form and even her normal demon form were gone. She was less then a slug and dumped in an elf territory to boot. The story moved very slowly telling of Az as a captive of the elf lord Feille and his evil torture of her in his dungeon. She finally escaped, but went from the frying pan into the fire. Sam/Az suffered terribly through the this story. Not just physically, but emotionally beyond what any human or demon should have survived. Sam/Az stayed true to the demands she and the elf lord Taullian had agreed to, freeing the humans from slavery, but with her in such a dire strait Taullian reneged! Sam/Az then had to suffer terribly by the hands of lord of the demons, Ahriman. It seemed this book just kept heaping evil and hurt on Sam/Az at every turn and it would end with her death. The last few chapters brought about a quick pace and Sam/Az's life took a turn for the better. The ending made my heart joyful and I can not wait to read the next book. Debra Dunbar I forgive you! 😀📚❤️Kathy Barber Doyle - 12/15/2017

Almost Five Stars
The ending of this book was five stars. Absolutely loved it.Gotta admit, it was extremely difficult to read through nearly the entire book having Sam have every single rotten thing happen to her with no end in site. She never caught a break. Never. Things went from bad to worse. Then things went from worse, to me hating this story with every fiber of my being...Thank God, the author went where I not only wanted her to go, but actually did better than what I could have come up with. The greatness of this story started when Ahriman brought Dar into the dungeon where he was holding Sam.From that point on, the book rocked! True bliss front that point on.About frigging time. I knew Gregory's energy would be for something very special, but I never EVER guessed this would happen.Pretty awesome. The reunion between the two was amazing. While Wyatt was nice and an ok character, I didn't like him for her after she met her angel. It just didn't fit anymore.I hope Wyatts character in the next few books, dont take her back to pizza and stupid sexual situations.I have a feeling everything has changed now, so I'm happy about that.If you all can work your way through the first 90% percent of this book, the payoff at the end will be glorious.

The best so far!
I debated for quite some time whether I should skip this book entirely based on many of the negative reviews. But I'm glad I didn't, because this was the best in the series thus far.Yes, chapters alternate with the point of view of a relatively new angel, Gabriel (Gregory's younger brother), as he investigates the deaths of the two angels. His only interactions with our favorite angel, Gregory (whom we finally learn his real name), are in mere snippets. But there is a point to this, laid out in the end.The chapters from Sam's point of view are outstanding. She spends the first two months locked in an elven dungeon, unable to do much more than simple healing. She is stripped of Gregory's bond, and can hardly even change her appearance, stuck primarily in human form. But there is also a point to her suffering, and it prefaces amazing things to come in this series. We don't see many of the side characters in this book, except for Dar and Leethu. They proof their loyalties and worth to Sam in this installment.I continued to find grammatical errors in this book, but not as many as in prior books in the series. Regardless, they didn't detract much from my enjoyment of this book.If you haven't checked out this series, what are you waiting for?

Bravest Imp ever.
Demons, Angels, Elves and an Imp. This Imp is one of the most memorable characters you will ever read about. It's also one of the funniest series I ever read.Although I must admit this was a little darker than the rest of the series so far (Even if the last book made me cry.)The Imp in question has been banished to Hel. She is pond scum and not able to heal herself or change her form. In enemy hands she must find a way to save the beings she loves ( yes I did say a demon loves......) Free the humans from their elven slave masters, survive the demon she has signed a thousand year mating contract with and get back to the Angel she loves. But first she has to figure out how to not be pond scum

Compulsive reading. More like fantasy than urban fantasy this time.
WOW. This book follows straight on from the last one so you must read the others first. The story follows Sam as she struggles to regain her strengths after the explosion that all but killed her at the end of the last one. Its a traumatic and difficult journey fraught with violence, politics and war and it is epic.I think this book, unlike the others, should be classified as fantasy not urban fantasy as most of the book takes place in Hel or Aaru (heaven) and the plot involves mating relations with demons, a war between Elf kingdoms and a major conflict between the angels. This may not appeal to some but it is done really well and the fantasy elementa are both refreshingly original and fascinatingly well thought out. Dunbar's world and lore are so in depth, it is easy to believe and relish the races, places and interaction between them.Note to readers, a lot of this book is written from Gabriel, an angel's perspective and not Sam's so it is a bit different and I found thr Gabriel sections difficult to read. This was partly because they were full of in depth observations and reflections from the angel devoid of Sam's usual sense of humour and delicious wickedness. It was also partly because Gabriel was basically going over all the same details of the plot from the previous book which we the reader already know as he investigates the ongoing angel breeding plot. I felt it was unnecessary honestly that he spent half the time just finding out what Gregory could have told him in one scene. But toward the end it got releveant and interesting.Overall the Gabriel parts were hard to slog through because the Sam parts were just so riveting that I was dying to get back to her story every time and found the Gabriel parts a bit of an annoying interruption. But it was quite interesting and at the end did not detract from the amazing story.Just one thing to note is that Sam's character has evolved really far, really fast and I foubd myself missing some of her earlier impish ways. She is now really just one of the good guys, more of a hero than the angels, and the ending solidifies this in a physical way that I'm not sure I liked. Will have to wait for the next one to decide.Read this and be prepared to buy the next one. This series is compulsive reading.

Imp forsaken, but not forgotten
In this fifth installment we pick up the pieces left behind by book four. If you have read that book you will know exactly what I mean, and to be honest there is no point in reading this without doing so, because this is very much a follow up and will make no sense otherwise.Sam is no longer she is a pond dweller in Hel, devoid of human or any form. Unfortunately those pesky elves recognise her, even like this, and for our favourite satanist that is when she is literally sent to Hell and back. At times I actually winced in sympathy reading the descriptions of torture that she suffered at the hands of those, who seemed more devilish than the Imp. Those passages were skim read and the same for her time with her demon suiter. What I did like about this book was the speed the action moved at, and the convoluted nature of the character driven plot. There is a lot description and the action sprawls throughout the Elven districts, as well as taking in a bit of demon hel where Sam has to fulfill her breeding contract obligations. You don't get bored that's for sure. However, again I missed Sam's earthly friends, and as much as I enjoyed her adventures, I also rushed through the edition to get to the next, where I hoped Sam would resume life as we had got to know it.For fans of this series this is a thrilling update, and will satisfy people waiting to see the Imp wrap up some of the ongoing story arcs such as her breeding requests coming from the powerful demon who has previously tried to kill her human lover Wyatt, and also her ongoing struggle with certain Elve Lords. This is definitely an interesting read and Sam is an evolving character. I liked the fact the author is happy to shake up her style of writing, this series is not formulatic and this book does seem a bit of a departure in style. Don't be put off though Sam is still very much the demon we have come to love it is just she is very much out of sorts here.I did miss her life as we have come to know it and read this through as fast as I could to return to her former life, but didn't realise just how much she would change as a result of her experiences. I will continue with the series and hope to see a return to lighter more fun story lines. In conclusion for fans of this Imp this is a fantastic read and will be loved I am sure by anyone following this series.

A series that keeps on delivering great characters and storylines.
Imp Forsaken is book five of the Imp series of urban fantasy books. To get the very best experience from this series I highly recommend reading them in order.Samantha Martin (Sam) is a demon; a demon who has just blown herself up in self-defence. The only place she can go in her fragile state is Hel. But Sam is in no shape to make repairs. She exists as only as a primative life form. With her bond to her angel broken, Sam is on her own. Hel might be home but it certainly doesn't offer a homely welcome. This series still keeps delivering great characters and chaotic storylines. There's always an element of fun and humour to keep me smiling too. I have the next book lined up and ready to read.

Tired...
This book made me tired. The reason being is that I read before sleeping. Too many one or even two o'clocks occurred hence the baggy eyes I now have. So, I think what I am saying is, this is another briliant unputdownable read from the imp series. Perfect heaven and hell story with a main character you want to do well and come out best yet at the same time suffer somewhat too

Another brilliant story
I am beginning to think that I am becoming a demon - the rate at which I am devouring these books. I am a slow reader but time and the rest of the world all disappear when I am reading these books. Such a well crafted visual and emotional feast with intrigue and edge of the seat moments interspersed with that wonderful, laugh out loud humour. I would prefer the violence turned down a little. Otherwise, I'm totally hooked. Hoping to get some sleep in before I start the next.
