I picked one up for myself and liked it well enough to order 3 more for gifts. I am only using the fine side right now and it does a good job, I still use a ceramic rod on my fillet knives once I get them close with the stone. Medium side would be great if you had a really dull knife but I try not to let mine get that bad.

Poor or missing quality control
I've amassed quite a collection of Lansky sharpening gear, probably more than your average person. Now, when it comes to those diamond-coated ones, they've always started off a bit rough for me. I mean, there's always that moment at the beginning when you wonder if the stone will clean up or not. Once they do, they work like a charm. But this time, this stone here is the exception. It just wouldn't clean up, no matter how hard I tried.There seems to be something stubbornly stuck on there that I can't seem to get rid of, and there's also this weird ridge on the surface that lines up with a dot you can spot in the photo. Both of these issues make it a no-go unless you are intent in causing damage, especially for a long blade like a carving knife. So, I'm afraid this stone is heading back to where it came from. Pretty disappointing, to be honest, especially since I used to own the single-sided (M) version of this stone and gave it to my son when I ordered this one. Even that stone took a bit of work to clean up, but it was solid once it did.On a side note, I noticed they used a thin layer of silicone to hold the stone to the plastic block, and the M side on the one I got wasn't sticking properly. I managed to fix it quickly on my end, but it just adds to the whole quality control issue.
