Very helpful!!
As in the past, Larry Burkett has once again given helpful financial information based on biblical principles. I will read this book again and again to stay motivated to give.

Clarification in the palm of your hand
Clarification in the palm of your hand. The Auther Larry Burkett has done a phenomenal job providing 1. clarity in the subjects of Giving & Tithing 2. and its association in the service of God for the sake of the Kingdom. The author sheds light on 3. the actual priorities of our service as we are called to understand and rectify our focus. I personally do not have an issue with giving or tithing. However, 4. I recieved more then I thought as I didn't see the association between giving, tithing, serving and stewardship. As a student and a teacher of biblical theology I believe this book to be an asset in anyone's personal library, in addition, you owe it to yourself to make an investment when dealing with subjects of faith and clarity of information and where we stand within the context of biblical scripture. Yes I definitely recommend this book. I have already provided its Auther and this books contents to my students. This is a brief and concise read on the subject of our calling to service. Let's read, lets grow, let's serve! Hope this helps!

Giving and Tithing
As with any book there are points on which one can agree and others where one takes exception. The book is well written and quite informative. It would make a great aid in teaching finincial responsibility and the art of handling money. The tithing portion is directed to the responsibility of the parrishioner to return a percentage to God as obedience which requires incorporation into a budget. On the other hand the Churche's responibility to budget is not addressed. The book need include that churches have the same responsibility as individuals when it comes to needs vs. desires: I know that to be true and is biblically based; The clergy is held responsible for that act but it is never preached as such. I suggest tithes are as misused as much as personal funds. God doesn't need money all is his anyway. What he does require is that we love our neighbor, friends, loved ones and foes alike. If we take care of that function the church don't need to and in most cases doesn't anyway. Personal problems are usually referred by the church to some civil office for manipulation and tending. That was never an intended activity of government; it was the responsibility of the church. Most churches seem to make a third law about tithing and actions of a Christian. Continue to point in that direction and inflict guilt to force participation.

Great insight
This book re-established my beliefs in tithing and giving & it was also a tool for God to convict me to do more for my local church.

Easy to read and understand!
I was born a giver...never understood why. It is God's design for us to be givers so that He may bless us in return. A supernatural overflow!

Valid information
This book was insightful, and explained need for Christian financial counseling, purpose for the tithes and the offering.I would have liked if it has also explained the purpose of "sowing seed."

First rate intro for a church reviewing it's giving program
Excellent and balanced approach to giving to churches; a refreshing departure from the manditory tithe approach, and good input into welfare programs run through churches. Recommended as a starting place for really workable programs in giving and welfare in churches.
