Excellent product, Works perfectly
This is an excellent product. It works perfectly in four wire, normally open, configuration. It probably works perfectly in five wire configuration also, but I didn't try it that way. Small size makes it perfect for use on a motorcycle. I use mine to switch power on and off with the key for a USB charger and heated grips. You could make one of these on your own with a suitable circuit board, and the right dc relay, but they took all of that work out of it for you. The price is fair considering the work they save you.I de-soldered and removed the fifth wire from mine, then re-shrink wrapped it. Now it's perfect for my application. I would definitely buy this again if I needed another.

This thing is a beast!
Go back in time 15 years and I was trying to figure out automotive relays. I didn't understand them, or this particular product. But four years later I was installing a Viper alarm setup in a 1995 Subaru Legacy and this product hit my radar, while I was figuring out how to install dome lamp supervision (needs a relay). I squinted at the DEI 8616, bought one, and then inexplicably (I honestly don't remember) used a standard "big" (physically) Bosch-style relay instead of this one.And it sat there in the parts bin. Waiting. This year I had a need to do some rewiring -- adding side markers to that Subaru Legacy -- and controlling the lighting the way I wanted required relays. Like, four of them (don't ask, just trust me). And then two more to get integration with the Viper alarm (due to some of the lighting particulars). And then there was that "big relay" from Round 1, sitting under the dash. That's a lot of relays (7), a lot of weight, a lot of physical space, and the "big relay" sockets would be... less than ideal and add even more.7 of these, on the other hand, is pretty compact. So being more comfortable with relays these days, I decided to turn to the DEI 8616 for all of them. Including yanking that years-old unused one out of the parts bin. They work like a charm. Barring specific need, I will probably never use a "big" relay again. The only thing that would make me stop using the DEI 8616 would be if I find something even smaller ;)

Not with low voltage trigger.
This compact relay is NICE! However, this will NOT work with low voltage negative trigger (-) 200 mA which is common for alarm systems axillary triggers, such as a trunk. Instead, purchase a Dorman universal 5pin relay (PN#88069) which WILL work with a low voltage negative trigger. I initially ordered this compact relay because 1 review said it would work for a Camry trunk opening circuit, but they must have not been using a low voltage trigger. Good luck! Installed on a 2007 Toyota Camry, alarm install to open trunk.

Prewired low amperage
Hard to find low amperage relays, especially prewired. Perfect fit for my application

Very Small, very good Relay!
Nice Product.... Used it on my Yamaha V-Star to install 2- 50w driving lights. Worked Awesome! Combined amps on 2- 50w lights is only ~8.5 amps, which is well within the range of the item. So far has worked for more than 1000 miles without any issues. Love the small size and that is pre-wired, and protected with heat shrink! Smallest relay I could find to hide on a motorcycle! And Love it!

works just fine
I used this to make a bypass for the butterfly valves in my mazdaspeed 6. I followed the instructions that were posted in our car club and everything works fine.

Nice relay with good instructions
Good relay. Docked a star because one of them had loose wiring which was a pain to troubleshoot. The second one was fine.

This CAN be triggered by the viper aux -200ma port
This product DOES work with the -200ma aux trigger for viper alarm systems. You must connect the GROUND wire to the alarm system (black wire) and the red wire to the +12v. This will trigger the relay. I bought several different types of relays, including the dorman relay mentioned in another review, but the viper aux port would not trigger it. Keep in mind that the alarm system does not supply the current to trigger the relay. Instead, the alarm system "opens the ground" to the relay, so be sure to connect the ground to the alarm system. It seems that viper is not really friendly to the do-it-yourselfers. I can't seem to find a bitwriter or an xkloader 3 anywhere. Also, don't bother buying an xkloader 2; you need to be a dealer for it to work.
