Such a well rounded and convenient dog food
This is great for our Doberman with a sensitive stomach. He had a operation on his stomach just as he turned 1yrs due to eating a stone (great 1st birthday celebration- a massive vet bill) he couldn’t stomach kibble or cold pressed pellets after that point and found this stuff gave him all the nutrition he needed in a convenient way. We give him 2x trays in the morning (45kg Doberman, now 3yrs old) and a packet of raw at night and he gets soooooo many complements on his condition (both vets and other dog owners) such a shiny coat & good figure thanks to the nutrition included! He loves all the grain free meaty options, but we avoid chicken as found it gives him dandruff. One very happy boy every morning!!

Just one thing….
Dog loves the lamb and sardine trays and so do I but, yes there is a but - opening the plastic seal on the tray is really really difficult without it getting messy and always needs a sharp knife in the end. Why is it so well sealed you can’t pull it off with your fingers? Realise batches probably differ but is it really necessary to be that well sealed?

Star's favourite food!
My 10 year old greyhound star has lost more than half his teeth and I have struggled to find a food that is soft and easily broken up to allow him to eat by himself without me having to intervene. I'm close by in case he choked or gags as I'm a stickler for that kind of thing. His weight has been dropping off previous to trying this food, very worrying at his age and his thin build. But he is on this food and gaining weight nicely. His poos can be sploshy with a vile smell but this food has also improved that as well. So I'm very impressed with this food and star is happy on it and so are his guts so I heartily recommend it.

Been using Forthglade for over 2 years, always great.
I made the switch permanently to Forthglade, and another grain free dog food, over 2 years ago when my nearly 3 year old Cocker Spaniel was having bad stomach upsets from another well known brand of dog food which I won't name.I then had a 9 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who died a few weeks ago in her sleep, and my now nearly 3 year old boy. I made the switch to Forthglade to solve his upset stomach problems, and I have never gone back. We have tried a number of different flavours, his faves seem to be the Lamb, and the Salmon, but also the other fish varieties too.We have just picked up an 8 week old Cocker Spaniel puppy, and our only complaint with the puppy forthglade is that our young pup would rather eat our 2 year olds food than her own, although she does actually eat both. The food is grain free which is great, it has a very high meat content, which is fantastic, and it's not that high on fat. Good news all around. I would recommend it to anyone, and I already have done in fact previously to people with Cocker Spaniels. It's a reasonable price too, and both my current dogs, and my previous dog, love it.

Food was adequate and didn't upset my dog's tummy - but the new packaging is a disaster.
Obviously my review is based on the perspective of the pet owner, and not the one eating the food!My boys Maverick and Goose have sensitive tummies, and we have come to the conclusion that Goose is intolerant to poultry and grain. This massively limits which foods we can feed them, Goose in particular, but since we found Forthglade we have not looked back, and I now have a monthly subscription for 3 cases to be delivered each month, occasionally topping up with an ad-hoc fourth. My only criticism is the consistency of the texture. Most of the time it has a firm paté-like texture, but occasionally it feels much drier, almost crumbly. And sometimes it's wetter like jelly. I notice that this seems to correlate with how easy the film lids come off, and it seems to be a carton/batch issue, as I tend to find if one tray is like that, the rest of the case is too. Could be related to the batch ingredients, or the storage along the supply chain, but I do wonder if these changes extend to the flavour also and could be unpleasant for my boys. We've not had any complaints anyway!EDIT TO ADD: I have felt the need to update my review, the last four cases I have had now, the film lids have been IMPOSSIBLE to remove cleanly (see picture). Not only do you now need the grip strength of Ironman to get it started, but it tears down the middle - and you're usually pulling so hard on the tab that you get dog food all over you hands and the kitchen when it finally 'lets go'. This makes getting the food out difficult, and cleaning/recycling the tray practically impossible. This may seem really trivial, and I feel silly for sharing it, but it is genuinely tiresome, going through this rigmarole and mess twice a day, every day. Each time I started a new case I hoped I had just been unlucky with the last few, but the impossible film lid marks the start of 9 days of dog food torture. I contacted customer service to feedback on the new lids and was told they had been experimenting -- quite frankly how somebody in the business tried this lid and said "yes, this is the one!" is unfathomable.I may give them another chance in a few months when I hope they have come to their senses and gone back to the old film lid, but until then I have found an alternative.

Something's changed?
Have been feeding this to my dog for years and, generally, she's always loved it. Noticed in recent months the plastic covering seems to have changed material as it rarely peels off in one piece. Right at the same time my dog has stopped eating the food as keenly so wondering if this new material is tainting the smell/taste compared to previously?
