Mac KnifeOriginal Chef's Knife, 7-1/2-Inch

I have had a Mac knife similar to this one since 1984, and it is still in use. It is merely stamped, not forged, but it keeps its edge very well, and is nicely balanced because it has a full tang. I have numerous very expensive forged knives, but turn constantly to the Mac knife for general use.The reason I bought this knife is that the handle of the older one is finally starting to separate from the tang, because children and teens doing the dishes sometimes put it in the dishwasher instead of hand washing it, which has taken its toll on the wood. I do wish I had gotten the slightly shorter knife (to match my old one), because it is a slightly more handy size.

This knife is sharp, light and holds edge well. I highly recommend. I always get compliments on this knife at work.

I've owned an original Mac knife but upon my move I have lost it. So I decided to buy a new (bigger) one. The size is definitely great for people with larger hands. The blade is razor sharp, you can shave with it. Keep in mind this new knife is likely to rust easily (my previous original Mac knife didn't give me that issue). The price is definitely high in Amazon compare to other sites. Upon trying it out I have decided to return it, so I can buy a smaller size. Note that some sellers will charge a restocking fee and deduct shipping cost even though item had free shipping.

An overall excellent knife. I have used Mac knives for nearly 20 years and have found them to be my favorite over much more expensive knives.

I have a smaller knife that I love. The steel blade stays sharp, the handle isn't as comfortable as my more expensive knives. Very reasonably priced.

Far and away the best carving knife I've ever used in 50 years of being the chief carver on family holidays.
